Vishwas Singh posted this1 in 5 Indians lives with chronic pain. It’s the largest chronic disease burden in the country—bigger than diabetes and heart disease combined. Yet it remains under-recognised, often treated in silos or with quick fixes that don’t address the biological, psychological, and social drivers of pain. Sustained relief requires integrated, non-surgical, evidence-based care: multidisciplinary teams, personalised plans, minimally invasive and regenerative options where appropriate, and outcome tracking focused on function and quality of life. That’s the model we’re building at Nivaan Care—an accessible, end-to-end clinic network for comprehensive pain management. What will it take to make evidence-based pain care available in every Indian city? #ChronicPain #PainManagement #HealthTech #India

I went over to Battery Smart once again to meet Pulkit Khurana Siddharth Sikka and noticed this line on their screen below the logo at the front desk I can't explain how energised I feel each time I step in there but this was even higher and thus Pulkit and I took our first picture of 2026. The line stayed with me long after I left and thus I am writing about it now as thoughts got collected. Some lines are only written on walls and meant to drive perceptions ( I have been a CMO - I should know :) But, some are lived Like this one. Simple. Almost understated But it carries the weight of the last 6 years In 2020, I was all nervous and excited at the same time when leading their seed round. We were alone in our conviction on whether this could be a reality one day. Today, there is a scramble on their cap table. Nothing about this looked easy. Battery swapping huh ? For India’s e-rickshaws and two-wheelers Too operational. Too asset-heavy and "Un-VC" like who only back software and Saas Too early. There was no playbook to copy from - No Amazon, No Uber. And thus little belief. But on the ground, the opportunity was clear. 2.5 Million Drivers were losing hours every day waiting for lead acid batteries to charge. And lost hours meant lost income. This wasn’t just a business problem. It was a livelihood problem. It was also a #climate problem What followed wasn’t a straight line. COVID struck right upfront- zero mobility, zero operations for months Resilience was tested It was one station at a time. One city at a time. One solved constraint at a time. Today, Battery Smart stands at : • 1,600+ stations • 50+ cities • 100,000+ drivers and families impacted • 100M+ battery swaps and counting • 1000s of tons of carbon emissions avoided • +ve Ebitda But numbers don’t tell you what really happened. What really happened is this 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩. Not when it was hard. Not when it was unfashionable. Not when nobody was watching. At BlueGreen Ventures, this is what conviction looks like to us. Not certainty. Not consensus. Just the willingness to keep going when both are missing. India's problems will not be solved by founders under perfect conditions. It will be built by founders who choose to keep going when things are unclear, uncomfortable, and hard. So to everyone out there building in the shadows… figuring it out one day at a time carrying more doubt than validation 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐡𝐢 𝐫𝐮𝐤𝐧𝐚 𝐧𝐚𝐡𝐢 Is for you Because the ones who don’t stop, are finally the ones who change everything. Vishwas Singh liked thisVishwas Singh liked thisIndia is at an inflection point: the ‘Pharmacy of the World’ is evolving into a ‘Global Innovation Harbour’. The global biopharma industry is undergoing a structural realignment. Beyond the $2.2B/asset R&D crisis, we are seeing a convergence of new therapeutic modalities, patent cliffs, emergence of new R&D clusters and a global shift toward geopolitically secure supply chains. In our latest Endiya Partners whitepaper, Dr. Ramesh Byrapaneni and I explore how India is uniquely positioned to lead in this new era: *Frontier Science*: Moving beyond generics to modern modalities. Eyestem is currently developing what is among the world’s strongest iPSC-derived candidates for macular degeneration. *Clinical Velocity*: Enrollment of specialized cohorts can be up to 10x faster than global peers—shifting the bottleneck from patient access to execution. *3x Economic Leverage*: Reaching Clinical Proof of Concept for <$50M vs. $150M+ in the West allowing for ‘More Shots on the Goal’. *IP Validation*: Deals like AbbVie-IGI prove that Indian-origin IP is now a peer-level asset to the world’s premier biotech clusters. We are moving from ‘0-to-1’ to a ‘1-to-10’ phase. While challenges in translational infrastructure and late-stage funding remain, with the combination of ₹10,000 Cr in Biopharma Shakti funding and 2026 regulatory reforms, the era of high-velocity, Indian-led innovation has arrived. What is the biggest hurdle we need to clear to unlock the next 10x in clinical velocity? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. "Our patients want innovative solutions!" Do they, really? Most patients just want to book appointments without friction. Yet many healthcare investments still focus on: ❌ Custom telehealth platforms with low adoption ❌ Branded apps that patients never download ❌ Patient portals that require training to use In India, the biggest health apps ever built reached a maximum of 5 million users. WhatsApp reaches 850 million users. That's a 170x difference in reach. Here’s what actually drives return: ✅ Appointment booking that takes under 60 seconds ✅ Automated reminders that reduce no-shows by 40%+ ✅ Lab results delivered instantly through Whatsapp ✅ Patient questions answered without overwhelming front desk I've seen clinics launch custom apps with every feature imaginable and end up with a 15% adoption rate across their existing patient base. Same clinic adds WhatsApp booking and within one week, over 60% of appointments come through a platform patients already check multiple times a day. This is what operational efficiency looks like. One solution required you to change patient behavior AND train your staff. The other automated repetitive tasks and met patients where they already were. You’re not "settling for less innovation.” Innovation removes friction so well, you forget the technology is even there.

🚨 Community Medicine & Family Medicine are not “backup options.” They are shaping the future of healthcare in India. In our latest Medhustlr Podcast, we explored with Dr Nisarg Aravindan MD, FRSPH How these MD branches open doors in public health, policy, research, and leadership — far beyond the clinic. Link to episode in comments. Most MBBS graduates chase clinical specialties. But the ones driving policy, preventive healthcare, and large-scale change often come from Community Medicine and Family Medicine. These fields create opportunities in national and state health programs, NGOs and international health bodies, healthcare administration, epidemiology, research, and family-centered primary care. This conversation is about redefining career growth for doctors — from hospital wards to healthcare leadership and systems change. #PublicHealth #HealthcareLeadership #CommunityMedicine #FamilyMedicine #HealthcareCareers #Medhustlr

How do you maintain consistency when your business grows beyond the walls of your first location? Most founders realise this only after expansion begins. The systems that held everything together in one centre often fall short when stretched across multiple teams and geographies. At First Response Healthcare, we experienced this firsthand. Once we opened our second and third locations, we realised we were no longer running one operation, we were running multiple versions of the same business, each with its own realities. Managing business in your absence is very different from managing it in your presence. When you are no longer physically present everywhere, leading different locations becomes a whole new ball game. - To manage this, we created role clarity across layers. - We appointed dedicated city leads with full ownership. - We built a strong link between local and central teams through weekly syncs and structured handoffs. - We documented what could be adapted and what must remain standard like response time, clinical quality, and patient experience. It is easy to copy what worked at your first centre. The real challenge lies in the pasting. The art is in how you replicate the system across locations without losing its effectiveness. Training became the glue that made this possible. It ensured the team not only knew what to do but how to do it with the same level of quality. Scaling well is not about adding more. It is about replicating excellence. Execution is what makes growth feel reliable. #Entrepreneurship #Growth #Success #Scalingup #Execution

🚀 Funding Update in the Indian Startup Ecosystem Mumbai-based Luma fertility, a tech-enabled fertility care startup, has successfully raised $4 million in seed funding, led by Peak XV Partners (via its Surge program), along with participation from notable investors like Ameera Shah (Metropolis Healthcare) and Vijay Taparia (B2V Ventures). Founded by Neha K Motwani, Luma Fertility is building a patient-first platform to offer end-to-end reproductive care—covering IVF, fertility assessments, egg freezing, at-home diagnostics, and more. The startup is leveraging technology and empathy to modernize fertility services in India. 📍 With a flagship clinic in Bandra West, Mumbai, Luma now aims to expand across multiple cities over the next two years. This is yet another sign of rising investor confidence in healthtech and femtech sectors in India. There is a new kind of “OPD rush” in Indian healthcare – and this time it’s investors. Private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) money is pouring into the sector: India’s overall PE-VC investments bounced back to ~$43 billion in 2024, up 9% vs 2023, with ~20% of this now in conventional sectors like healthcare. Between 2018–2022, healthcare alone saw ~$35 billion of deals, and hospital investments hit a record ~$5.5 billion in 2023. In Q2 2025, PE funds deployed ₹4,900 crore in Indian healthcare across 33 deals – one of the highest quarters on record. This capital wave is already reshaping the Indian healthcare industry: ✅ Faster capacity creation – new beds, ICUs, oncology hubs, day-care centres and micro-hospitals in Tier-2/3 cities ✅ Better systems and governance – stronger KRAs/KPIs, clinical dashboards, revenue cycle discipline ✅ Digital and health-tech adoption – remote monitoring, diagnostics networks, home-care, AI-enabled workflows But there is a flip side: ⚠️ Rising cost of care if IRR targets drive aggressive pricing ⚠️ Urban–centric expansion, widening rural access gaps ⚠️ Short-term exit pressure, which can clash with long-term public health goals For promoters, clinicians and hospital administrators, the key question is no longer “Will PE come?” It is “Can we align PE returns with clinical ethics, affordability and long-term trust?” If we get that balance right, this PE/VC wave could be the catalyst that finally takes Indian healthcare from capacity-starved to capacity-ready—without losing its soul. — Dr. Pushpinder Singh #HealthcareIndia #PrivateEquity #VentureCapital #HospitalManagement #HealthcareInvestments #IndianHealthcare #HealthTech #Hospitals #Leadership #InvestmentTrends #HealthcareGrowth #FutureOfHealthcare

The healthcare ecosystem in India presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for startups. The 4th Brij Round discussion with the founder of an India-focused health platform highlighted several crucial points for pitching investors in this complex market: Clarify Your Stakeholders and Sales Channels: It is essential to clearly articulate which stakeholder will be paying for your product and who will be responsible for making the sale. This demonstrates a clear understanding of the market dynamics. Justify Your Sales Channel: Go beyond identifying your sales channel. Explain why it is the most effective choice and what incentives are in place for that channel to succeed. Focus on Value and Retention, Not Just Technology: While your technology is important, your pitch should focus on the tangible value you provide to the user and the strategies you will employ for user retention. Provide Clear ROI Calculations: India is a price-sensitive and value-conscious market. A well-articulated calculation of the return on investment for your customers is not just a nice-to-have; it's a necessity. Keep Your Initial Presentation Focused: Avoid overwhelming investors with too much information in the first meeting. The primary objective of your initial pitch is to convince them of your vision and the viability of your business. Further details can be discussed in subsequent meetings. Navigating the Indian healthcare market requires a nuanced approach. A pitch that addresses these key points will be significantly more compelling to investors. #Healthcare #HealthTech #Startup #Entrepreneurship #VentureCapital #India #Pitching
