Money is no longer staying within borders and neither are businesses. But it’s not just about exports anymore. Indian businesses are earning globally and spending globally, on SaaS, AI tools and cross-border services as part of daily operations. All major fintech players are seeing cross-border volumes surge, turning what was once niche into a core revenue driver. “Cross-border payments is now our fastest-growing segment,” says Akash S., adding that it already contributes 10-15 per cent of revenue and is expected to grow further. However, these transactions move through multiple banks, layers and compliance checks, making them slow, costly and hard to track. The PA-CB framework, introduced by the RBI, has tried to make things simpler but how are things moving on the ground really? “With PA-CB, fintechs have direct authorisation and a clearer role,” says Ishan Sharma, adding that this allows companies to build and scale with more confidence.
