The interview that changed everything. 2021. Capgemini. I almost didn't apply. Here's what happened 👇 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I had been at Growz for 4 years. Good company. Decent work. Comfortable. A recruiter reached out for a Capgemini role. My first thought: "I'm not ready." My second thought: "What if I fail the interview?" My third thought: "What will people think if I don't get it?" ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I almost said no. Then someone told me something I've never forgotten: "The interview is free practice. The worst that happens is you learn what you need to work on." So I applied. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Round 1 — Technical. They asked me about DAX context transition. I knew it. I answered it. Clearly. With a real example. Round 2 — Managerial. They asked about a time I handled a difficult stakeholder. I talked about the client who didn't trust dashboards and how we rebuilt confidence one number at a time. Round 3 — HR. "Why Capgemini?" Honest answer: "Because I've grown everything I can grow where I am. I need a bigger problem to solve." ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I got the offer. Not because I was the most technically brilliant person they interviewed. Because I was honest. Specific. 3 months of job hunting → 26 LPA package. Here’s what really worked for me: 1. Don’t beg for a referral. - Instead, find the job link, write two short lines explaining why you’re a good fit, and ask if they’d be open to referring you. 2. You don’t need to tick 100% of the JD. 60–70% is enough to apply. - If only 60 to 70 percent of the skill matches, apply. 3. Your resume? - It should say something like: Software Engineer | 3 years experience | Node.js, React | ex-Zomato - Not like “enthusiastic team player and lifelong learner.” - Resume and Naukari tricks: https://lnkd.in/dwM5jYMK 4. One clean, hosted project with a Loom or YouTube walkthrough can do more for your credibility than ten certificates. - Don’t just tell, show your work. 5. Every week, do one mock interview. - That pressure is very different from solving Leetcode in peace. 6. If you’ve already applied to a company and got ghosted, don’t give up. - Reapply after 6 to 8 weeks. 7. Follow tech leads or hiring managers in your domain. - They often post openings before HR even uploads them to the job portal. - Be active in at least one tech community. Ask, share, help. 8. Track every single application you make. - Company name, role, date, and who you contacted. Use Notion, Google Sheets, whatever works. - For smart follow-up and to stay organized. 9. Remember that LinkedIn is a worldwide platform encompassing multiple cultures and norms. If someone in my country advertised for a male Human Resources Manager, condemnation would be quick. (Well, from most people anyway.) But other places may have different practices. Same with the “do I put my picture on my resume” question.

₹3.5 LPA → 35+ LPA Same person. Same industry. What changed? Not luck. Not shortcuts. Just one shift: 👉 I got curious about what happens before the dashboard. I started as a Data Analyst. Excel. SQL. Dashboards. Loved it. Learned a lot... ❓But I kept asking: 👉 Where does this data come from? 👉 Why does it break? 👉 Why do definitions never match? That curiosity changed everything. I didn’t “switch” to Data Engineering. I moved one layer deeper: Reports → Models → Pipelines And yes — it meant starting over. From being confident… to feeling clueless again. But that’s where the growth was. If analytics helps you understand data, engineering helps you build it. Both matter. Careers don’t jump 10x; They compound. If you’re early in your journey: Don’t chase titles. 👉 Follow the questions that don’t leave you alone. Sad Reality: People are going to lose jobs. One of the biggest layoffs in Indian history is expected very soon with the ban on real money gaming (RMG). Opportunity? 1) Developers should now focus on creating Make in India games. The money that was previously funneled into RMG can instead be invested in building game development companies, igniting the spark for India’s next gaming revolution. 2) Around 86% of gaming revenue in India came from RMG. That revenue stream is gone for good — but the market will adapt. This opens the door for many companies to gain first-mover advantage, and we can expect global partnerships to step in to revive and reshape the industry. 3) The Indian gaming industry just went through a hard reset, and it’s time to evolve. In the early 2000s, China made a similarly tough call by banning consoles and forcing developers to move away from easy-to-make console games and the focus shifted to PC games(exempted from the ban, mobile phones didn’t exist back then. Ban was uplifted in 2015 but it was too late). The result? Today, China dominates the global market and commands a massive share of worldwide gaming revenues. 4) Will this boost esports? Unlikely. Esports will continue to remain a source of entertainment for gamers and primarily serve as a promotional platform for brands. Conclusion: The ban on RMG feels like a major setback in the short term, but in reality, it might just be the reset button India’s gaming ecosystem needed.
