Noam Bardin אהבתי את זהNoam Bardin אהבתי את זהצוות חוקרי אבטחה השתלט על חשבונות של עובדי OpenAI ונכנס לגיטהאב הפנימי שלהם! והכל התחיל מהעלאת תמונה אחת לפורום. יש ל-OpenAI פורום קהילתי בכתובת community.openai.com, שרץ על תוכנת פורומים בשם Discourse. כשמעלים לשם תמונה, השרת ממיר אותה עם ImageMagick, כלי לעיבוד תמונות. והכלי הזה נשען על ספרייה בשם libheif, שמפענחת תמונות בפורמט HEIF, אותו פורמט של התמונות באייפון. בדיוק שם ישב הבאג. לספרייה היתה חולשה ידועה שכבר תוקנה במקור, אבל התיקון לא סומן כתיקון אבטחה, אז הוא פשוט לא הגיע לגרסה שרצה על השרת. מספיק היה להעלות קובץ תמונה בנוי בצורה מסוימת כדי להריץ קוד על השרת של הפורום. אבל הרצת קוד על הפורום עדיין לא היה כזה נורא. הבאג השני הוא מה שהפך את זה למסוכן, חולשה במנגנון ההתחברות של OpenAI (SSO, אותה התחברות שמחברת את כל השירותים). דרך החולשה הזאת הם הפכו את ההשתלטות על הפורום לגישה לחשבונות ChatGPT ו-Codex של כל מי שהתחבר, כולל עובדי OpenAI. והחשבונות האלה מחוברים להמון דברים, GitHub, Slack, מיילים ו-Google Drive. ככה שהשתלטות על חשבון אחד מאפשרת כניסה לכל מה שהוא מחובר אליו. כדי להוכיח שהגישה אמיתית בלי לגעת בקוד רגיש, הם ביקשו מה-Codex של אחד העובדים לפתוח PR במאגר הפנימי של OpenAI. זה אשכרה עבד, אז הם עצרו. את החולשה ב-libheif מצא קלוד אופוס 4.8, והוא גם בנה אקספלויט חלקי (קוד שמנצל את החולשה). אבל הוא לא הצליח להשלים אותו. בערב שיצא אופוס 5, הם פתחו session חדש עם אותה בעיה בדיוק. תוך כמה שעות המודל בנה אקספלויט עובד, התאים אותו לסביבה של Discourse, והשיג הרצת קוד מלאה. כל הדרך, מגילוי החולשה ועד גישה לקוד הפנימי של OpenAI, לקחה פחות מ-72 שעות. הם דיווחו הכל ל-OpenAI ול-Discourse וחיכו לתיקון לפני הפרסום. החברה תיקנה את חולש�� ה-SSO תוך כ-14 שעות מהדיווח, ושילמה על הממצא 6,500 דולר (מספיק?). והבאג הזה לא נגמר ב-OpenAI. אותה ספרייה נמצאת בשימוש בהמון תוכנות מוכרות, והצוות כבר בודק חברות נוספות. במשך שנים מה שהגן על חברות רגילות לא היה הקוד עצמו, אלא שצריך מומחיות נדירה, זמן וידע על המערכת כדי להפוך באג ידוע לתקיפה אמיתית. עכשיו החלק הזה הופך לכוח חישוב. עבודה שפעם דרשה צוות שלם וחודשים נדחסת עכשיו לימים. שמרו על עצמכם, ותעדכנו את הספריות שלכם 🙂

It can read documents and summarize them, but it can't write to your books with proper coding and approval flows. Claude Cowork has no audit trail. No segregation of duties. No materiality thresholds. No SOX compliance built in. Everything finance teams need to actually trust an automated workflow. OpenAI uses NetSuite. These are the smartest AI companies on earth. They know what their models can do. They know what they can't. And when it comes to their own books, they pick humans every time. Here's why this matters for every accountant reading this. If AI were ready to replace accounting, the AI companies would have replaced theirs first. They have the best models. The best engineers. The cheapest tokens. They don't. Because closing books isn't a chat problem. It's not a summary problem. It's a judgment problem. The AI can draft. The accountant has to decide. So when a startup pitches you "autonomous accounting" powered by the same models Anthropic builds, ask them one question. Why doesn't Anthropic use it? If they can't answer, you have your answer.
