Niall H. reposted thisNiall H. reposted thisLatAm Fintech is no longer just "emerging" - it’s setting a global pace. I just wrapped up an incredible week at the FinTech México festival, and three things are crystal clear to me about where the region is headed: 1. The "Nubank Effect" is the Gold Standard: Seeing our customer, Nubank, take a prominent role as a premium sponsor emphasizes how they’ve redefined digital banking. Their impact on the landscape is unparalleled, and we’re proud to be part of that journey. 2. Infrastructure is the Secret Sauce: The synergy between scheme, processors, and infrastructure is reaching a tipping point. The alignment with international markets is making the cardholder experience smoother than ever before. 3. Issuing is Exploding: The sheer speed at which card programs are hitting the market in Mexico and across LatAm is truly remarkable. The exponential growth we’re seeing in our LatAm volumes at Apata is a direct reflection of this ecosystem's success and the success of our partners. Irish fintech Nomupay raises $40M Series C from SoftBank subsidiary to expand Asian cross-border payments. The Dublin-based startup secured funding from SB Payment Service at a $290M valuation, just five months after its $37M Series B round. This brings total funding to approximately $120M as the company accelerates its mission to simplify cross-border payments across Asia's fragmented payment landscape. Nomupay's platform allows merchants to access Asian markets without establishing local entities or navigating complex regional regulations. The company will immediately add Japanese payment methods to its platform and expand into Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam. With over 2,000 merchants already onboard and 500 new clients added recently, Nomupay expects to exceed $45M in gross revenue by end of 2025 while targeting profitability within 12 months. The new entity, incorporated on July 11, is part of a structured financial arrangement aimed at diversifying the company’s funding base. 📍 The trust is based at Klarna’s Dublin office, with filings showing it is registered at CSC, a corporate administration firm. 📍 Klarna, founded in 2005, is led in Ireland by Colin Creagh and continues to expand its presence in the market. The move comes as Klarna reported a Q2 net loss of $53M, up from $18M a year earlier, and prepares for a potential IPO later this year. Recently, Klarna also agreed to sell up to $26B in BNPL loans to Nelnet as part of its capital strategy ahead of going public. Irish fintech making moves: ID-Pal has acquired NorthRow (an ID-Pal company) ID-Pal has quietly become one of Ireland’s strongest tech exports, powering KYC and AML checks across 250 jurisdictions. Now they’re adding full KYB by bringing UK-based NorthRow into the fold. The combined platform gives companies a single view of risk across people and businesses, which is badly needed as the UK and US tighten compliance rules and AI-driven document fraud spikes. Founder Colum Lyons says the goal is simple: help firms stay ahead of fast-moving threats without juggling multiple tools. NorthRow’s customers like Caxton and Equifax now join an existing roster that includes the Irish Department of Justice, U.S. Bank, Mercer, Zurich Insurance and Salesforce Partners. NorthRow continues operating as is, with deeper integration coming next. Big moment for ID-Pal and a strong win for Irish fintech abroad. If you work in compliance or onboarding, this one’s worth a look.

Imagine building a tipping app in Cork and waking up to the news that you’ve just acquired a €2.2 billion Canadian payments network. That is exactly what Paynt did yesterday when it snapped up E-xact Transactions . Overnight they went from Irish upstart to genuine North American player. Paynt's well thought expansion means: 🟢 Global scale without chalking up licences. Buying E-xact’s 50 million transactions-a-year engine means Paynt plugs its “URocked” tip-to-pay magic directly into Canadian rails. 🟢 A new hub, fresh talent pools and a clear message: Irish payments IP can out-compete legacy giants in their own backyard. 🟢 Hospitality gets its digital upgrade. Early adopters saw a 74 percent tip boost. Now every barista and bartender across Canada can join the cashless revolution. #Fintech #Payments #IrishTech #GlobalExpansion #MergersAndAcquisitions #CashlessTipping #Startups #HospitalityTech #DublinFintech

Cross-border payments are getting a strategic upgrade and 𝘕𝘰𝘮𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘺 is right at the centre of it. The Irish-headquartered fintech has just raised $𝟰𝟬𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗖 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 from SB Payment Service (SoftBank), giving it a $𝟮𝟵𝟬𝗠 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and the backing to expand further into Asia, MENA, and beyond. Here’s why this matters: • Nomupay enables merchants to simplify complex global payments through a single platform • Offers alternative payment methods (APMs), multi-currency virtual accounts, and treasury tools • Operates across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East — now adding coverage in Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam • Expects $𝟰𝟱𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 by end of 2025, with profitability in sight This isn’t just about faster payments — it’s about making market entry seamless in some of the world’s most fragmented payment environments. For companies scaling internationally, avoiding the overhead of regulatory licensing and FX exposure is a major advantage. Nomupay’s acquisition of Total Processing in late 2023, coupled with the onboarding of 500+ new merchants, shows they’re not just building — they’re consolidating and scaling. At ReachX, we’re seeing continued investor appetite for infrastructure-led fintechs solving behind-the-scenes problems in complex geographies. As the payment layer becomes more localised, platforms that offer transparency, speed, and control are increasingly mission-critical. Is Asia becoming the next frontier for Europe’s cross-border fintechs?
