Irish fintech startup Paygentic has raised $2M pre-seed, led by MiddleGame Ventures, with backing from Anamcara , Aperture Ventures, Angel Invest, and several top European angels. Built by serial founders Susan O’Neill and Samuel A., Paygentic is tackling a problem every operator knows: messy billing and payments stacks that slow teams down. Their agent-first approach combines both into one clean, deployable platform. Already live with early adopter ChaseLabs, Paygentic is building for the new wave of AI-native and agentic companies, where billing isn’t a bottleneck, it’s leverage. Plans are great until users show up. Part 4 of my Home Assistant series ended with "What's Next: implement automations based on input." Three days later, I've shipped 6 releases. None of them were that feature. What actually shipped: Bug fixes → Notification overhaul → User/domain filtering → Full Lovelace UI → Stale automation detection The pattern: Notice pain point → Describe to Claude Code → Review (tests included) → Ship → Repeat. Each cycle: hours, not weeks. The key insight: the limiting factor isn't implementation anymore. It's identifying what to build. New Irish mobile payment service Zippay launches this week across major Irish banks Irish consumers will begin seeing Zippay appear in their banking apps from tomorrow as the three major retail banks roll out a new in app person to person payment service developed with European paytech Nexi. The service, available from Bank of Ireland, AIB and Permanent TSB, will allow users to send, request and split payments instantly using just a mobile number, without needing IBANs or new payee setups. Brian Hayes, Chief Executive of Banking & Payments Federation Ireland, said the launch marks a major development for everyday digital payments in Ireland: “Zippay will provide a quick and easy way to send and receive money or split payments or bills with friends, family and contacts who are also Zippay users.” Zippay will reach more than five million eligible accounts and will be made available to all financial institutions offering IBAN account services and a consumer mobile app. Nexi Group’s Renato Martini said the service is designed for scale and future growth, reflecting Ireland’s shift toward faster digital payments. Jarvio, the Dublin start-up that puts an AI operator behind every Amazon storefront, has raised €1.5 million in pre-seed funding.   Backers include senior executives from Amazon, Target, Wayflyer, Meta and MongoDB; Brian Caulfield and HBAN angel investors; and institutional investors Darius Cubed, Baseline VC, Enterprise Ireland, NDRC and an Accel Scout Fund. The funding will accelerate engineering hires, automation development and U.S. expansion. LoyLap, a Dublin-based app developer, expects its revenue to grow to €2.5 million this year based on the growth of its two core brands. The company is also planning a series A funding round in the next 18 months of up to €8 million. Founded by Patrick Garry and Conor O'Toole in 2012, the business has 25 staff and had revenue of €1.7 million last year. The business runs two brands, LoyLap and Facilipay.
