Cillian Day reposted thisCillian Day reposted thisWe’re #hiring a #Principal Software Engineer for Hugh Duffy's team, in Ireland 🇮🇪 This role sits right at the intersection of #backend #engineering and #AI - not building models, but building the systems that make them actually work in production. You’d be working across two backend teams, shaping how we design and scale the services behind our #Agentic AI platform. What that looks like in practice: → Building and operating high-scale systems in #Java on #AWS (IAM, Lambda, Dynamo, etc.) → Designing and evolving REST APIs and service architecture → Partnering closely with AI teams, focusing on the systems around the models It’s hands-on, but also high-impact. You’ll be setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and unblocking teams. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving real-world engineering problems (not just clean abstractions). 📍 #Ireland-based (#Galway ideal), with a flexible setup (a few days a month in the office) If you want to stay close to the code and influence how systems are built at scale - this is a good one. #Apply via the link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/d5Fz33YD #PrincipalSoftwareEngineer #SoftwareEngineering #DistributedSystems #AWS #BackendEngineering #PrincipalEngineer #IrelandJobs #GalwayJobs #TechCareers #AgenticAI #CustomerExperience #CloudNative Clodagh Cunningham Genesys David Mullen Ciara Darcy Assoc. Missed my table tennis for the day, but it was well worth it 🏓 Great to share the stage with Robert Headon, Cillian Myles and Stephanus (Fanie) Meiring. Really interesting how aligned we all were. AI and agents are powerful, but they need clear direction, testing, and human judgement to deliver consistently. As I mentioned in my talk, skills and functions are very similar. "It's all still software engineering, simply abstracted one layer up by natural language. The need to write code may be reducing, but the need to understand it is greater than ever." So don't become a rubber duck 😉

Cillian Day reacted on thisCillian Day reacted on thisA year ago.. after years of shifting my focus toward product management, I was given the opportunity to leave behind design and step into a fully dedicated product role. I applied to the Product Management postgraduate diploma at Technological University Dublin out of a desire to give my practice a stronger foundation, and I'm thrilled to share that I'll be graduating with distinction this coming March. ✨ It's been a year that tested me more than I expected, and I'm genuinely proud of where I've landed. I'm continuing on to the Masters portion of the programme, which is already proving to be very interesting. A huge thank you to Charles River Laboratories for supporting this opportunity, and to everyone who gave their time through interviews and conversations along the way. I'm grateful for every one of those conversations.

Cillian Day reacted on thisCillian Day reacted on thisI’m proud to share that I’ve stepped into the role of VP of UX at Genesys focusing on AI Experience Orchestration. I’m taking on this role at an important moment for our industry. Organisations are moving from designing traditional contact center experiences to designing AI native, conversational journeys that span channels, systems, AI Agents and human teams. Agentic AI agents are a real breakthrough. They can reason, adapt, and engage in ways that simply were not possible before. The opportunity now is to bring those agents together into coherent end to end journeys that feel consistent, trustworthy, and measurable. As AI becomes central to customer experience, UX plays a critical role. This is not only about what an agent says. It is about how it behaves, how it makes decisions, how it explains those decisions, how it works alongside people, and how it is observed, governed, and improved over time. Trust, transparency, and accountability have to be designed in from the start. At Genesys, we build the platform that enables organisations to deliver these experiences at scale. Done well, they drive better outcomes for customers and meaningful results for the business. I look forward to leading this conversation from a UX perspective, working closely with peers across product, engineering, AI, data, and go to market to shape how responsible and effective AI experiences are designed. Excited for the work ahead Most importantly, I’m grateful for the peers and mentors who challenge my thinking every day particularly Joe Smyth Elcenora Martinez Rahul A. Garg Jack Nichols and Gregor Moulton This role is the result of learning alongside exceptional PMs, Engineers, and leaders who generously share their perspective and raise the bar. I’m looking forward to continuing that journey together. Excited for the work ahead.

𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗖𝗧𝗢 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀… 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁. For Irish tech SMBs, senior tech leadership hires are make or break. CTOs, Heads of Engineering, AI/ML and Product Leaders directly shape velocity, delivery, culture and long-term value. Yet many founders still try to hire these roles the same way they’d hire a mid-level engineer. That’s where things go wrong. Here’s the reality I see every week in the Irish market: • The best CTOs and senior tech leaders are not applying to jobs • A vacant leadership role quietly bleeds revenue, momentum and morale • A rushed or misaligned hire at €100k+ can cost multiples of salary in lost output and reset time So what actually works? 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵. 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆. Why it consistently outperforms direct hiring or contingency: 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 We engage proven leaders who are already successful, not scrolling job boards. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 Structured market mapping and proactive outreach shortens time-to-hire without cutting corners. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 Deep assessment around leadership style, technical credibility, culture fit and scale experience. 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 Fewer mis-hires, higher retention, and far better long-term outcomes. At Forward Role Executive Search, this isn’t theory. In the last 12 months alone: • Double-figure CTO placements • Multiple Senior Director to Head of level hires • Nearly all across Irish & UK tech SMBs • With teams built underneath them for long-term success and longevity We don’t just place leaders. We help founders build leadership teams that actually scale. If you’re a Founder, CEO, COO or Head of Talent considering a CTO, VP Engineering, AI or Product leadership hire in 2026, it’s worth asking one simple question: 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴? Happy to share how retained search works in practice and when it does and doesn’t make sense.

62% of callers won't leave a voicemail. They'll just call the next business on Google. For Irish SMEs — dental practices, plumbers, electricians, restaurants — that stat translates to real money walking out the door: → Dental practices lose €15,000–€40,000/year to no-shows alone → Tradespeople miss 8–15 calls/week while on jobs → At €150–€400/job, even 3 lost calls/week = €1,800–€4,800/month gone The businesses winning right now aren't the ones with the biggest teams. They're the ones that answer every call. 24/7. Without hiring. AI phone agents aren't "the future." They're the baseline. If you're running an Irish SME and still relying on voicemail after hours — run the numbers. You might not like what you find. #AIReceptionist #IrishBusiness #SmallBusinessIreland #MissedCalls #VoiceAI #CustomerExperience #SME 👉 See what you're losing: voicefleet.ai

To add to the pressure, customers are more and more adamant on using big food apps. Thus taking even more control away from businesses. That’s why we are launching OrderUp App A fair fee structure for businesses: A fixed 4% Fair pay for Drivers: They keep 100% of what they earn Absolutely Zero service charges for users. Meaning less money extracted from local economies, businesses are able to plan and dream once again because theyre no longer under the thumb of big delivery, gig workers are rewarded fairly for the work they put in and finally, families can indulge without having to pay it off over three months. It’s as simple as that.

There’s a massive opportunity for Irish businesses right now, and it’s hiding in plain sight. It’s not about inventing new tech. It’s about enabling your teams to use what already exists but use it better. AI. Automation. Cybersecurity. Data fluency. These are the building blocks of modern productivity and resilience. The Certificate in Emerging Digital Technologies is our response at Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet not to a challenge but to an opportunity. Curious how you're equipping your teams for tomorrow’s challenges?

Journalists in Ireland are now asking for feedback from people who see the “scam likely” label or whose business is affected by it. It seems they’re noticing that the Sender ID verification system is already hurting legitimate businesses that rely on SMS to reach customers. I have friends and family whose genuine messages are all getting flagged as “Scam Likely.” Thanks to the huge number of false positives in Ireland right now, people will quickly be trained to trust any text that isn’t labeled. What does that do? It makes it even easier for criminals to trick people into trusting dangerous messages with malicious links. This is the type of human behaviour that I've been studying for almost 20 years. This will happen with near certainty because criminals already use regular numbers to send these messages. Why? Because most businesses have long used regular numbers too. And in every country where Sender ID verification has been rolled out, SMS fraud has increased for both consumers and businesses. This isn’t rocket science for those of us in this field, but the media is asking the wrong people for “expert opinions.” It’s frustrating to watch because the cost is real: fewer kids in college, people unable to get mortgages, families breaking up after falling for financial fraud. I know people who lost their entire savings to a single scam, changing their lives overnight. Irish banks are really going to feel this when instant transfers arrive under the new EU PSD3 regulation. Few outside banking realise that from October 2025, every bank in the EU will have to offer instant transfers to all customers. Transfers will settle in 10 seconds, any day, any time, for the same fee as now. Faster than many crypto exchanges! According to the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland, banks already offering instant transfers have seen fraud increase 9 to 10 times. Once the money leaves, there’s no way to get it back. This will expose banks to even more risk and liability. ComReg’s Sender ID initiative will make things worse, not better. But to be clear, it’s not ComReg’s fault (I really respect the team, their values, and their openness to engage industry). As the regulator, they relied on bad advice from people who don’t specialise in cybersecurity, social engineering, or brand impersonation. We need ComReg to roll back the entire initiative or educate everyone to treat every text message with suspicion, not just those from branded numbers. Not just those labeled as Scam Likely. Stopping criminals from spoofing names like BOI is important, but not if the cost of doing so outweighs the benefit. Is the goal to stop brand spoofing OR to protect consumers from fraud? If you had to choose, which matters more? Because right now, we can’t have both.

An Irish law firm we work with generated 117 enquiries in February. From Facebook ads alone. 45 consultations booked directly into their calendar. Here's how Irish law firms can advertise compliantly on Facebook: 1. Facebook advertising IS allowed in Ireland The LSRA rules focus on truthfulness and professionalism, not platform restrictions. There's no ban on social media advertising. 2. What makes advertising compliant Avoid guarantees and misleading claims. Ensure all statements are factual and verifiable. That's the standard. 3. Platform isn't the issue, execution is The risk comes from ad content (false promises, exaggerated claims), not from using Facebook itself. Most firms confuse the two. 4. How to protect reputation whilst increasing visibility Focus on educational content about practice areas. Use client testimonials with consent. Stick to factual service descriptions. Most Irish law firms avoid Facebook ads because they believe it's not allowed. It is. The firm above spent ~€6 per enquiry and booked 45 consultations in 28 days. We see this quite often with businesses in Dublin. Traffic increases, but conversions stay flat, because the website structure was never designed to support growth. Before investing more in visibility, it’s worth reviewing the foundation. Structure often matters more than traffic.

Why does reposting this come across as egotistical and self-serving? I had a great conversation with Mark Kelly from AI Ireland last week on his podcast where we discussed the power of using AI to get more done, while taking less time, as a way to improve the work life balance conundrum. And yes LEGO was discussed too.

We’ve just launched the AI Readiness & Adoption Survey for Northern Ireland Businesses. I’ve spoken with hundreds of businesses across Northern Ireland. A few are pushing ahead with AI. Many are still figuring it out. Most are somewhere in the messy middle: dabbling without direction. That gap matters. If Northern Ireland wants to succeed as the serious tech hub we all know it is, it can’t just be a handful of early movers. We all need to move forward. So at Galvia Digital, we’ve launched an AI survey. In partnership with Belfast Chamber, and with input from officials from the Department for the Economy. It takes ten minutes. It’s anonymous. And everyone who fills it in gets the final report. The goal is provide a clearer picture of AI adoption in Northern Ireland, and hopefully direct policymakers to provide meaningful and informed support for the businesses who need it. We want to hear from NI Business owners, directors, senior managers, or the person who makes digital/technical decisions. Deadline: 24 October. Take part today 👉 https://wkf.ms/45VdCDw
