Alison Cassidy shared thisWhat an incredible day it was today at Apple’s European headquarters, as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of the company - since its humble beginnings in Steve Job’s garage. It’s been a blast working here for over 30 years, and to have witnessed the company going from strength to strength! Oh yes - and Rita Ora was onstage! 🎶

Alison Cassidy reacted on thisAlison Cassidy reacted on thisI'm excited to share that I've accepted a new opportunity as a Senior IT Specialist with Alumis in South San Francisco, and I start tomorrow! Getting here has been a journey. Back in February, I learned that my position was being eliminated after nearly 17 years with Natus Medical. My final day was May 1, and the five months since then have been more challenging than I expected. After more than 20 years in IT, being laid off and navigating today's job market definitely affected my confidence. There were countless applications, recruiter conversations and multiple interviews that seemed promising but ultimately went nowhere. At one point, I even began questioning whether I wanted to continue in IT and started exploring completely different career paths. Eventually, I realized that I didn't necessarily need to leave IT. I needed to find the right IT role for this stage of my career. I became less focused on simply finding another job and more focused on finding the right combination of responsibilities, environment, people and overall fit. Interestingly, I never applied for this position. A recruiter with TEKsystems came across my LinkedIn profile and reached out to me. That initial conversation led to two interviews with Alumis and ultimately an offer. An opportunity I wasn't even looking for turned out to be one of the best fits I encountered throughout my search. For anyone still looking, keep going and try not to let the process define your confidence or your value. The unanswered applications, interviews that don't lead to offers and constant waiting can be discouraging. None of that erases the experience and knowledge you've built throughout your career. And don't underestimate the importance of your LinkedIn profile. Keep it current and make sure it reflects not only what you've done, but where you want to go next. You never know when the right person might come across it. I'm grateful to everyone who encouraged me, offered advice, made a connection or simply checked in over the past five months. Tomorrow, a new chapter begins. #NewOpportunity #InformationTechnology #SeniorITSpecialist #JobSearch

Alison Cassidy reacted on thisAlison Cassidy reacted on this4 years ago, Lume was just an idea. After lots of sweat and some tears, we hit a big milestone recently! Our first fully-integrated cortisol monitor prototype. No more wired connections, or external tubes. Our prototype is now miniaturized and bluetooth connected! It might look simple on the outside, but inside that little blue box is a multiple layers of innovation to make a mini lab on your wrist. It can read cortisol directly from your sweat, and when paired with our multi-modal sensor algorithm, gives you the first real-time picture of your cortisol rhythm. It's far from perfect, and lots more data to collect and publish, (and yes, we're working on making it even smaller!!) but it's so exciting to see it finally coming together. Super proud of the entire Lume Health team and how relentless they've been in getting us to this point. If you can't tell from my face, I was so happy seeing so many people come out to our events to see the prototypes for the first time in NYC, Boston and San Francisco recently. If you want to be the first to try Lume's hormone technology, join the waitlist via our website (which just got a refresh!) linked below. More announcements to come soon :)

Alison Cassidy liked thisAlison Cassidy liked thisI didn't get into motorsports earlier because I was afraid of being "found out." In college, I founded and led our automotive club. Somewhere along the way, I decided that meant I was supposed to be one of the most competent drivers in the room. The problem was: I wasn’t. The night before autocross, one of our members asked if I was coming. I said no. I’d just bought an MR2 Spyder 20 days earlier and wanted to “baby it.” Four hours later, that MR2 was sitting at a 45° angle between two trees, just before a 100-foot drop. My ego took a much-needed hit that night. But the harder thing to admit is that even afterward, I still struggled to show up. I wanted desperately to learn, but learning meant being visibly inexperienced. Eventually, curiosity started winning over the fear of looking incompetent. Increasingly over the past 16 years, I showed up. I got things wrong. I learned. And somewhere along the way, motorsports became fun instead of something I had to prove I belonged in. That experience has shaped a lot of how I think about design, too. With a background in game design and UX, and I’m fascinated by what happens when you create enough structure for someone to feel safe, but enough freedom for them to play, experiment, and surprise themselves. That’s a big part of why I created Twin Redwoods. To create spaces where I can help high-performing women discover the fun where they otherwise felt fear.
