The information in this article applies to Dropbox Protect admins.
From the Items page in Dropbox Protect, you can export content to a CSV file. Each file follows a standard format that you can use for audits, analysis, reporting, or sharing insights.
You can export selected items or the full results of a filtered view.
Notes:
- Use caution when sharing CSV files because they may contain sensitive metadata such as file names, owners, collaborators, link types, and access levels.
- We recommended that you only export results of a specific filtered set of criteria. We do not recommend exporting the entire results of Protect.
How to export to CSV
- Log in to Dropbox Protect. Learn more about accessing Protect.
- Select one or more items from the table. You can also use filters to narrow your selections.
- Note: You can also apply filters to narrow your selections.
- Click the Export to CSV icon in the toolbar.
- When prompted, type CONFIRM and click Export.
- The CSV file will be generated in the background, and you can continue to use Protect.
- The admin that initiated the export can download the file from Action History for up to 15 days.
- If you’re not seeing an updated export status or a download link, refresh the page.
Note: The item reflects its state at the time of export, not when you started the export. If you make changes after requesting the export, the item’s information may change. It may also be excluded from the CSV if it no longer meets your selected criteria.
