[edit]Is Curious George a Barbary macaque?
[edit]Barbary macaques are what you call "tailless monkeys" or "monkeys without tails" and Curious George is a monkey without a tail, so would Curious George be a Barbary macaque, if so, then should the latest edit request on Talk:Curious George be implemented? I know great apes and gibbons don't have tails, but those are apes, not monkeys. ~2026-17059-35 (talk) 19:35, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

[edit]SpongeBob as a 2000s show
[edit]Hello. In my opinion, most movies, shows, songs (and music videos) and other forms of media have some kind of thing by which you can tell in what time period they were made. Cartoons do too, some more than others (*cough* Rocket Power *cough*). Through the ones where the characters aren't humans are more timeless. Anyway, i was thinking if SpongeBob, particually the early seasons, has something that makes you go: This is a 2000s show. The only thing i could think of the is what celebs had quest spots (For example the movie soundtrack album). What do you think? ~2026-24671-3 (talk) 13:09, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

In my experience people come up to real world library reference desks and start debates quite regularly, but they kind of get in the way and easily become pests. does anyone else believe the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is really sexist/ableist/homophobic and doesn't hold up well over time? I just watched it on DVD in 2025 and oh boy does it not hold up well. I was expecting to see something on the Dodgeball page about its use of sexist/ableist/homophobic language but alas I find nothing but praise and a few general critical reviews. 781h (talk) 09:34, 23 March 2026 (UTC) |

[edit]Japanese Coke machine in Alien 3
[edit]In Alien 3, when Ripley runs to the cafeteria to warn the inmates about the xenomorph, a Coca Cola machine can be seen with "Coca Cola" written in katakana (befitting the Japan Takes Over The World trope embodied by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation). However, when I search for images of actual Japanese Coke machines, they all simply use the international Roman-script "Coca Cola" logo. Did this katakana Coke machine ever exist in the wild, or was it created for the movie? ~2026-16491-33 (talk) 14:02, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
- Given the technology of the ships in the Alien series, the scene is set more than a century in the future. Several sources give the year as 2179.[1][2][3] A machine that we could have seen in the wild would by then have become antique. It would be quaint for the prison cafetaria to house an antique machine, so a more reasonable hypothesis (IMO) is that this is the product of imaginative but fictional set design. ‑‑Lambiam 22:11, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

[edit]1990s or early 2000s all male English language thinking tejano rockabilly
[edit]Hi all, this is bugging me bad, there was a few songs by this group I believe they were Chicano or Latin last names at least (I remember Jimbob or something as a first name contradicatily) had some English language songs they had cowboy hats, rockabilly type of Tejano music, but again all English. The song that was their biggest hit was a love song makeup song very upbeat almost like a high tempo doo wop but with lots of music. Already did this on Google AI its not Los Lobos etc. ~2026-18853-76 (talk) 21:06, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
- Wild guess, but could it have been the Texas Tornados?--User:Khajidha (talk) (contributions) 16:32, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for thinking it over, yeah I looked at them, not them. The biggest hit was the song I am looking for something about love lost or love renewed and almost comical. Starting to wonder if its not just categorized as country music. ~2026-18853-76 (talk) 04:24, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
How old am I?
[edit]I have heard there is a way to calculate my age based on the music I like. The only thing I have seen so far about how is using Spotify, which I don't use. I was wondering if anyone knows any other methods.
People who know the music I like say I have the same taste as people who are much older. I d like to know how old.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 22:12, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
- The best way to calculate your age is based on what your birthdate was. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:14, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

- Hard to get a valid answer when I don't know any of the recent artists. —Antonissimo (talk) 04:42, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- The research cited here suggests that for Americans the period whose music they prefer is related to when they are born, which seems to be the period of their teens and for older folks also their early twenties – although the preferences of Millenials and later generations seems to have been formed in the cradle.
- Somewhat obviously, one's musical taste is only formed by musical genres one has actually heard performed with some frequency, which may be enough to explain a large part of these age differences. ‑‑Lambiam 13:13, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- I keep being told that on one web site I go to, and that advertisers only support stations that appeal to an audience of a certain age. And I keep being told advertisers won't support stations that play my music. And they won't even support stations that appeal to people my age.
- The suggestion from the search engine doesn't seem to work. It's too simple and I wouldn't choose any of the artists from recent decades.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 17:03, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- For me the guess was merely off by 69 years. ‑‑Lambiam 00:19, 28 March 2026 (UTC)

[edit]How are my favourite Minecraft videos made and how can I duplicate their feats myself?
[edit]I’ve been watching a lot of videos from channels such as Aphmau and Maizen, and I have always wondered how their videos are made. I know that they will be using mods of some kind to make stuff happen. I am mystified by several aspects of their videos and would like to know how to recreate them in my own game. They are as follows:
1. Custom skin designs with HD faces and facial expressions; anime eyes; animal ears, snout and tails; unique body shapes; fancy clothing; 3D elements; and other things.
2. Unique character emotes such as lying on the floor, crawling, doing animal impressions, carrying large objects, and many others.
3. Vehicles such as cars, buses, ships, and airplanes.
4. Items such as custom food, weapons, musical equipment, and others.
5. Special blocks that do cool things like, spawning entire buildings, changing the weather, generating land, and other things.
6. Lucky blocks.
I am hoping for options for Java Edition primarily, though I also would like to hear about Bedrock Edition stuff.
I feel that my own Minecraft experience is inferior and a bit lacking. I think that I deserve an opportunity to experiment more with mods and commands, and I feel that I have interesting ideas in my head for what could be done with the powers that appear in the videos that I watch.
I hope for some insights into the techniques for making these videos, as they have always baffled me and not made much sense when I consider what I already know about how a Minecraft server should look.
I worry that whatever the answers are, they will be full of technobabble and complicated coding and hacking processes. I hope for my sake that there is a way to break these processes down to make them achievable by me. Surely the YouTubers I watch must have ways of handling this?
I do not know which version of the game these YouTubers use. I myself would typically use the newest version. Depending on mod compatibility, I might have to fall back on 1.16 or earlier.
I have tried many subreddits but no one seems to be able to provide an answer there. ~2026-16474-99 (talk) 22:51, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- Disclaimer: I'm not a Minecraft player and I'm not familiar with those content creators, but from your description it sure sounds like what you need are mods for the game. Modding games is something I am familiar with (Fallout 4 and Skyrim, the kings of modded games). It can be a fun and rewarding activity for sure, but it can also be an enormous pain in the ass. Depending on the platform, the game, and what you're trying to do, it can incredibly tedious to get everything working in sync. For example, to facilitate my modded Fallout 4 habit, I have "helper" programs running that resolve conflicts, determine load order, etc.
There are many repositories of game mods, but the largest by far is Nexus Mods. I just popped on there now and saw several hundred Minecraft mods. But I urge you to first watch some modding tutorials and do some reading first or you'll get very frustrated very quickly. Matt Deres (talk) 17:57, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

- The German Wikipedia has a list with 50 seasons comprising 387 episodes. The "English" season 3 corresponds to the "German" seasons 3+4 combined, the "English" season 4 is the "German" seasons 5+6, and so on for most of the later ones. ‑‑Lambiam 03:01, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
