Balabush (talk) 10:37, 29 July 2026 (UTC)- Hi, and thanks for the submission on the 2026 Libyan protests. I've accepted it, the coverage from AP, Al Jazeera, AFP and Xinhua over the past few days makes this clearly notable.
- A couple of things worth doing when you get a chance:
- The article currently relies on a single source. I'd add a few more, in particular AP's report on protesters storming the Mellitah Oil & Gas complex, that's a significant escalation not yet reflected in the text. The Al Jazeera and AFP pieces on the road blockades and the storming of the foreign ministry building would round it out well too.
- Since this is still unfolding, keep an eye on the infobox date field once things settle, right now it's marked as ongoing.

- Good question, and good instinct to ask before writing it. A few concrete things that'll help keep it neutral:
- Attribute claims instead of stating them as fact. Instead of "the government mismanaged the electricity crisis" write "protesters accused the government of mismanaging the electricity crisis" or "according to Al Jazeera, demonstrators blamed..." Same for the political angle, "demonstrators called for Dbeibah's resignation" is neutral, "the illegitimate government of Dbeibah" would not be.
- Report both what protesters say and what officials say, if the sources include it. The AP piece mentions the General Electricity Company's own statement warning about the blackout risk, that's worth including alongside the protester perspective, it shows the story from more than one side.
- Avoid loaded verbs. "Stormed" is actually the word the AP itself used for the energy complex incident, so that's fine to keep since it's attributable to the source, just don't add your own intensifiers on top ("violently stormed" "furious mobs" unless a source specifically says that)
- Keep descriptions of scale and severity tied to sources. "Protests spread to Zawiya and Misrata" is fine because it's reported, "protests engulfed the entire country" would be an overstatement unless a source says that.
- For the political backdrop (Dbeibah vs the eastern administration, the Mashey dispute), stick close to what the sources actually attribute to political sources, don't fill in gaps with your own read of the situation. Balabush (talk) 12:01, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
