The European open source industry is ready. The question is: is Europe? 🇪🇺 🕝 In less than 48 hours, the European Commission is expected to publish the EU Tech Sovereignty Package - a key moment for Europe's digital future. What began with 15 CEOs engaging directly with Henna Virkkunen's Cabinet has grown into a coalition of 60 European technology companies united behind one proposal: Open Source First. This means public procurement should systematically assess open source alternatives before proprietary solutions ✅ Not to limit choice, but to ensure choice is transparent, visible and accountable. Europe's open source industry is ready to strengthen digital resilience, reduce dependency on vendor lock-in and support sustainable digital sovereignty. The coalition includes Magenta - Open source it, Univention, Integrio, :probabl., Rudder, Itway Cyber Security and Resiliency, Tech Tribes, 4Science, Zabbix, LINAGORA, CloudFerro S.A., OS Informatica di Pasqualini Giorgio, Freexian, Mindpolis, Mind, Boost Media APS, passbolt, Inxpect, Heinlein Group, MURENA, AGNITAS AG, Elastx - The Swedish Cloud Provider, Abilian, Decidim, Druid Oy, Biru Scop / Tenzu, eLabor, Librelab, SLIMBOOK, Cloudogu GmbH, Worteks, OpenNovations, Emilia Capital, Open Elements, OpenSource Science B.V., Haltu Oy, PLZ Spółdzielnia, Cloudable, SensioLabs and Stackable 👉 Find out more here: https://okt.to/ewP3yI 📝 Read the letter and co-sign: https://okt.to/bpndjQ #SUSE #OpenSourceFirst #DigitalSovereignty #TechSovereignty

We’re seeing a lot of organizations eager to scale AI - but getting from pilot to production is still one of the biggest challenges 🚧 In many cases, the issue isn’t ambition. It’s having the right foundation in place to build securely, reliably and at scale. That’s exactly what we’ll explore on June 4 together with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Katonic AI: how organizations can build production-ready AI on trusted infrastructure using SLES 16 and Rancher as a unified orchestration layer. We’ll cover: 🔹 Governed AI agents 🔹 Fully on-prem deployments with zero data egress 🔹 Faster paths from concept to production Looking forward to this conversation! More details in the comments 👇

The conversation around digital sovereignty is evolving and we don’t see it as just a European topic. 🇺🇸 We're seeing U.S. organizations also investing heavily in sovereignty to strengthen resilience, protect critical data and reduce dependency risks across their modern stack. At SUSE, we believe sovereignty comes from open ecosystems, hybrid flexibility and full control over data and operations. That’s why our assessment tools and partner network are designed to help organizations move from intention to action ✅ Read the full article from SUSE CMO Margaret Dawson (戴珍珠)👇
There's significant discussion surrounding Digital Sovereignty, often framed as a European issue. However, this perspective overlooks its global implications, particularly for U.S. organizations. Sovereignty should not be viewed as merely a means to secure borders; instead, it is about strategically protecting our data and systems. As a pragmatist and technologist, I believe it's crucial to consider these aspects thoughtfully. Welcome your thoughts and comments.
