As China’s automotive supply chain expands globally, suppliers are moving beyond product exports toward localized R&D, manufacturing, and long-term operations. Building a resilient global footprint requires not only competitive products, but also the right investment models, local teams, and organizational capabilities. Speaking at The 4th China Automotive & Parts Global Ecosystem Forum 2026 (Official Event of Auto China 2026), Liangjie Zhou, VP of Shanghai Baolong Automotive Corporation & GM of AS BU, shared Baolong Technology’s experience in building its global business. Founded in 1997, Baolong Technology began with valve stem exports and has since expanded into TPMS, intelligent suspension, sensors, and other automotive component businesses. The company established its European site in Hungary in 2023, further strengthening its global operating capabilities. Zhou highlighted Baolong’s “localized R&D + global manufacturing” approach. Its TPMS products have achieved a leading global market position and are supplied to multiple OEM programs, while its intelligent suspension business is expanding from Europe toward North America. Its sensor portfolio now covers more than 40 product categories, alongside established global businesses in valve stems, wheel weights, and exhaust tailpipes. Beyond products and manufacturing, Zhou shared practical lessons from overseas expansion. M&A can provide faster market access but requires careful cultural and organizational integration, while greenfield investment offers greater flexibility for long-term development. Whichever path is chosen, Baolong emphasizes strategic alignment, integration planning from the outset, trust in local teams, and the ability to leverage China’s operational efficiency. Product liability, legal support, and risk management also need to be built into overseas operations. Looking ahead, Baolong is exploring diversified globalization models, including partnerships with local companies, technology licensing, and contract manufacturing. The broader goal is to build a more flexible and resilient global presence—moving from simply selling products overseas to creating sustainable capabilities together with local markets and partners. #Gasgoo #AutoChina2026 #ChinaAuto #GoingGlobal #BaolongTechnology #AutomotiveSupplyChain #Localization #AutomotiveComponents #TPMS #IntelligentSuspension #Globalization

As vehicle electrification continues to advance globally, China’s automotive supply chain is increasingly moving from product exports toward the internationalization of technology and capabilities. For core components such as power systems, global expansion is becoming a broader exercise in localization, compliance, and organizational capabilities. Speaking at The 4th China Automotive & Parts Global Ecosystem Forum 2026 (Official Event of Auto China 2026), Wenjiang Zhao, Platform Director, InfiMotion, shared his perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing China’s automotive core component suppliers as they expand globally. Zhao noted that while the pace of new energy vehicle growth has become more measured, electrification remains a long-term direction, with energy-efficient combustion vehicles and optimized electrified driving experiences developing in parallel. China’s accumulated capabilities in new energy vehicles have also enabled its supply chain to develop increasingly mature end-to-end engineering capabilities, gaining greater recognition from traditional OEMs. At the same time, global expansion is facing new challenges, including tariff barriers, rising local-content requirements, and increasingly differentiated regional policies across markets such as North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Localization can also increase operating costs, requiring companies to continuously rebalance manufacturing efficiency and supply chain structures. Against this backdrop, InfiMotion has built a powertrain portfolio covering electric drive, power electronics, and energy storage, while establishing R&D and service capabilities in Europe alongside manufacturing bases across China. Its products have reached 58 countries and regions. Zhao also highlighted the importance of integrating group resources, strengthening ESG practices, developing international talent, improving compliance systems, and expanding global patent portfolios. The broader message is that localization is no longer simply about transferring production capacity overseas. Globalization increasingly requires the export of R&D capabilities, organizational systems, compliance expertise, and cross-cultural collaboration. For China’s automotive core component suppliers, building this integrated capability will be essential to moving from product exports toward sustainable global operations. #Gasgoo #AutoChina2026 #ChinaAuto #GoingGlobal #InfiMotion #Powertrain #Electrification #AutomotiveSupplyChain #Localization #AutomotiveIndustry

This goes far beyond charging-network access. NIO and GEELY Holding announced a comprehensive strategic partnership in charging and battery swapping on September 28, combining equity investment, technical standards, operations and infrastructure. Geely Auto International Under the agreement: 🔹 Geely will contribute its battery-swapping business and RMB 640 million to NIO Power, taking a 30% stake 🔹 NIO will acquire a 10% stake in Geely's charging subsidiary 🔹 The companies will connect their charging resources and jointly improve network coverage and operating efficiency 🔹 Geely will develop battery-swappable passenger vehicles, supported by NIO Power’s network 🔹 The partners will jointly develop consumer-facing battery-swapping technologies and standards The scale is already substantial. As of September 27, NIO operated 9,433 charging and swapping stations across China, including 4,126 swap stations. Geely’s charging network covered 2,500 stations in 232 cities. By linking capital, infrastructure and vehicle development, the partnership represents a deeper form of industry collaboration—one that could improve asset utilization while making energy replenishment more convenient for users. Could shared charging and swapping infrastructure become the next major form of cooperation between automakers? #NIO #GeelyHolding #BatterySwapping #EVCharging #ElectricVehicles #ChinaAuto

The electrification race is not only about batteries. It is also unfolding between the battery and the wheels. Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute’s Jan.–Jul. 2026 rankings reveal three shifts across China’s e-drive and power semiconductor supply chain: diverging integration strategies, faster adoption of local suppliers and intensifying competition in SiC. 🔹 Tesla led three-in-one e-drive systems with a 13.2% share 🔹 FinDreams Powertrain captured 35.4% of highly integrated e-drive systems 🔹 Local suppliers occupied eight of the top 10 positions in power modules 🔹 BYD Semiconductor led IGBT modules with 26.5% 🔹 Infineon Technologies remained No.1 in SiC modules, but BYD Semiconductor followed closely at 12.2% The contrast is striking: domestic suppliers already lead several mature segments, while SiC remains a more open contest as 800V platforms gain traction. Which will reshape the market faster—deeper e-drive integration or the transition from IGBT to SiC? • What does the supply chain look like for a vehicle designed to drive itself from day one? Tesla's Cybercab departs from the conventional passenger-car formula. Built as a purpose-designed robotaxi, it eliminates the steering wheel and traditional pedals while centering its architecture on autonomous driving, AI computing, camera-based perception and a dedicated electric powertrain. Gasgoo’s latest supply-chain map highlights several specialist companies behind the vehicle, including: 🔹 Samsung Electro-Mechanics and LG Innotek — cameras 🔹 L&F — cathode materials 🔹 Bosch — braking components 🔹 IDRA — large-scale die-casting equipment The Cybercab illustrates how a purpose-built autonomous vehicle can reshape not only the cabin and controls, but also component requirements and supplier roles.
