New research from InnoTech Alberta is helping make welding safer and more efficient at a time when the industry needs it most. Led by Principal Researcher Kimberley Meszaros, the team is advancing welding through improved processes, high productivity equipment, sustainable repair technologies, and innovative consumables. With nearly 26% of Canada’s welders over the age of 50 and approaching retirement, strengthening both safety and efficiency is critical to supporting the future workforce. A key focus of this work is welder health. Using specialized fume composition testing, the team analyzes exposure to hazardous metallics like chromium and manganese, helping organizations better understand risks and identify ways to reduce them. This research also contributes to national and international codes and standards. Assistive and robotic technologies are used to generate reliable, repeatable data that helps shape safer and more sustainable industry practices. On March 17, CBC featured Kimberley and the team’s work inside InnoTech Alberta’s welding facility. Read more and watch the story: https://lnkd.in/gduvEK5m

Edmonton continues to strengthen its position in the global quantum ecosystem. Founded out of the University of Alberta, Zero Point Cryogenics is just one of just six companies worldwide manufacturing dilution refrigerators that enable quantum research. They've grown into a 40-person advanced manufacturing company shipping globally from south Edmonton. Its closed-loop, in-house production model and deep technical expertise position it as a key infrastructure player as quantum computing advances. We’re proud to see Alberta companies contributing at such a foundational level on the global stage. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g8xEEe9y #QuantumTechnology #AlbertaInnovation #AdvancedManufacturing

We’re proud to share that we're officially accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a verification and validation body for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions claims. With many emissions claims based on estimates or assumptions, independent third-party validation adds credibility, especially for investors, governments, and funding agencies looking for clear, evidence-based carbon reduction impacts. This accreditation strengthens our ability to support accurate, trusted reporting and carbon mitigation projects across the province. https://lnkd.in/g2fYEHUX
