Proposed legislation would help enhance public confidence in democracy by strengthening citizen initiative and recall processes, while prohibiting deepfakes that could mislead voters. If passed, these changes would better align elections, referendums, recalls and citizen initiatives, creating a more consistent democratic experience for Albertans. Government of Alberta reposted this
Keeping Albertans and our communities safe can take a toll on first responders’ and emergency workers’ mental health. They experience post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI) at significantly higher rates than the general population. Alberta’s government offers the Supporting Psychological Health in First Responders grants to support services and research to help first responders living with or at risk of PTSI. Non-profits that provide services to first responders and researchers engaged in work that generates evidence on prevention or intervention for first responders living with or at risk for PTSI may be eligible for funding. Deadline for applications is May 25, 2026. By improving services and supporting research, these grants help improve understanding and alleviate the suffering for our first responder and emergency worker heroes. If passed, the Interprovincial Trade Mutual Recognition Act would enable Alberta to implement the national agreement on the sale of goods and future mutual recognition agreements, help lower costs for businesses and support a simpler, more efficient regulatory system across Canada.
