On Friday, we were pleased to welcome Caroline Desrochers, Member of Parliament for Trois-Rivières and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, to Dunn House. Her visit provided an important opportunity to discuss how integrated models of housing and health can drive long-term solutions to homelessness. Together with Dr. Andrew Boozary MD we discussed how the Dunn House approach—bringing housing, health care, and community supports together in one place—helps people move from homelessness to greater stability. The conversation also included a discussion about Build Canada Homes, the federal government’s new agency focused on building and financing affordable housing at scale, and reinforced the importance of bringing sectors together to address homelessness. Homelessness cannot be solved by one organization or one sector alone. It requires coordinated action across housing, health care, government, community partners, and people with lived experience.
