Through a combination of online learning, live sessions, and support from experienced coaches, your team will come away with a whole new mindset and a revenue diversification action plan you can start using right away. Canada’s social enterprise sector is a vital engine driving inclusive growth, innovation, and community resilience across every province and territory. The full Built for Impact, Ready for Market report launches soon, and presents the first national snapshot of the sector in a decade with data from 347 organizations representing 404 social enterprises. The full report goes beyond surface-level statistics to uncover the dynamic realities of social enterprise in Canada. It offers an analysis of the three primary growth constraints: market access, capacity building, and finance, and illustrates innovative solutions through case studies ranging from CleanStart Property Services‘ franchising expansion to CSCNL‘s social acquisition model. The report also provides recommendations for government, funders, and market actors to unlock support and opportunity for the sector. Local procurement shows up in the everyday choices we make. Over the past little while, we’ve been working with a couple of DTES-based businesses that continue to show up with care, consistency, and quality. Print Print has supported a number of our community projects with printing, from posters for the Washington Community Market to materials for Coordinated Community Response Network (CCRN) and fundraisers. They’re responsive, reliable, and understand the pace of this work. They were also a former CIRES tenant, which makes it especially meaningful to continue working together. And more recently, we connected with HAVE Café for meeting catering. HAVE is a social enterprise creating training and employment opportunities through food, while also making the logistics easy on our end. These are small decisions, but they add up. Choosing to work with local businesses helps keep resources circulating in the neighbourhood, supports employment, and contributes to a more resilient local economy — which is exactly the kind of ecosystem CIRES is working to support through our spaces.
