Yesterday, Achēv’s CEO Tonie Chaltas and Director of GR and Strategic Partnerships Kristen Neagle had the honour to address the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology (SOCI) in support of Bill S-215, An Act respecting National Immigration Month. We are deeply grateful to the Honourable Senators for inviting Achēv to contribute to this important national conversation, and to Senator Hon. Amina GERBA, M.B.A., C.Q.🇨🇦 for championing Bill S-215. Their thoughtful engagement reflected a genuine commitment to understanding the newcomer experience and the supports that help people thrive. Every day, we welcome newcomers as they navigate language learning, pursue credential recognition, and secure meaningful employment, all while managing the complexities of building a life in a new country. We also see their determination, leadership, and the transformative impact of feeling seen and supported. Thank you to the Committee for the opportunity to share these stories and insights. Achēv is honoured to bring the voices of newcomers to the table and to continue working toward a Canada where every person feels they belong.
