I have a torus-like mesh with a GN set up, so all instances track to a given object (active camera in this case). As you can see below, on the positive Y quadrant of the scene, all the instances are rotated correctly:

But on the negative Y quadrant, there's this weird swirling concentration:

I'm sure this is just some vector math issue, so if any math wiz could help me out I'd really appreciate it!

did you try this?

i think the problem with your align rotation was, that you use 2 times the "auto" pivot.
