Shovels are in the ground, and construction is officially underway at NEXTDC S4 Sydney 👏 The milestone was marked with an official sod turning alongside NEXTDC Group Chief Development Officer Simon Cooper and a smoking ceremony led by Uncle Colin Locke. In the months ahead, the team will install the first of six tower cranes. Tower Crane 1 will be the largest tower crane ever used on a Multiplex site, a Marr M2480D, to support construction of the 350 megawatt data centre. With the team using the latest innovative modular construction methods to accelerate the build, the crane will lift major elements into place, including prefabricated mechanical plantrooms, electrical switch rooms and major services pathways, alongside extensive precast elements. S4 Sydney is the fourth project to be delivered by Multiplex in New South Wales for NEXTDC, and there are exciting times ahead as we bring this AI-ready facility out of the ground! #builttooutperform #NEXTDC

Some of construction’s most exciting innovations are coming out of data centre delivery, and that was none more evident than at the Data Centre Leaders Summit in Sydney this week. Our Regional Director Frank McMahon spoke on Multiplex’s experience in accelerating data centre construction, from ECI and pre-planning providing delivery certainty, to integrating digital coordination and modular solutions for a more efficient build. This approach is helping us to deliver over $2b in data centre projects globally, providing our clients with accelerated and flexible programs able to quickly adapt to future tenant needs. As the next round of AI-ready data centres come to market, we’re continuing to look for the next-generation solutions to build them in a smarter, safer way. #builttooutperform

International Women’s Day is a time for everyone to reflect on progress towards gender equality. For us, our people's lived experience is the best measure of how we're going. This IWD, we asked some of our people to reflect on our recent employee experience survey results – particularly, digging deeper to see where some of our results differ between men and women and why. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and real reflections for this video. Some of the stories behind the stats are eye opening, and show the work we still need to do to balance the scales in construction.

The milestones keep coming at NEXTDC P1 Perth Stage Two! After recently topping out the structure, the team has completed three major lifts to help power the data centre, lifting 3 x 40-tonne generators into position. The installation of the generators was aided by a 450-tonne crane, the largest lift to date! Thanks to our subcontractors and suppliers who helped complete the install safely and successfully. At completion, Stage Two of P1 Perth will double the current IT capacity of the facility, marking the fifth data centre we will have delivered for NEXTDC across Australia. #builtooutperform

Shaping skylines. Delivering icons. 🌆 From London to Sydney and Toronto, Multiplex has been at the forefront of building some of the world’s most recognisable tall towers. Our expertise in high-rise construction goes beyond height. It’s about how we innovate - from constructing the world’s first ‘upcycled’ tower at Sydney’s Quay Quarter Tower, to building beneath a suspended 700-year-old church at London's 50 Fenchurch Street, and redefining Toronto's skyline with the complex façade of One Delisle. Keep watching to see some of our flagship towers from across the globe. #builttooutperform

We’ve topped out Stage 2 of NEXTDC’s P1 data centre in Perth! The existing Stage One P1 Perth building has also had a makeover, now hosting the largest array of satellite antennas in Western Australia after our team completed their installation earlier this month. Stage Two of P1 Perth will see its current IT capacity double. With the structure complete, our team is focused on the fit-out of the building’s plantrooms, offices, and new data hall. The technical nature of the data centre has required meticulous attention to detail throughout construction, particularly with works occurring adjacent to the operating Stage One P1 Perth data centre. Thanks to our project team and all of our subcontractors, suppliers and partners who helped achieve these milestones safely and successfully. #builttooutperform

How can you tell if someone is not ok? The signs can be subtle, but the time spent together means workmates are often the first to notice someone might be struggling. It’s one of the reasons we’ve invested so heavily in Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) training for our people across the globe. In recognition of World Mental Health Day, some of our trained MHFA’s share the behaviour to look out for as well as how to open up a conversation to help - take a look.
