We’re celebrating another major milestone on the Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package. The Clyde Dive tunnel walk stole the spotlight as the must‑see event of the year, with the GLC team rolling out a star-studded welcome for more than 1,800 local community members - red carpet and all. Guests stepped inside the never‑before‑seen service tunnels, which will one day link the Clyde Stabling and Maintenance Facility to the mainline tunnels when Sydney Metro West is open and operating. The turnout said it all, with eager community members seizing a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity to experience the project firsthand. Events like these are a powerful reminder of the impact Australia’s largest public transport project has in connecting communities today and shaping how Sydney moves tomorrow.

We’ve had a busy year in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, as we deliver the enabling works for the New University Hospital Monklands - which will help provide the best possible care for patients. Last year alone we excavated enough soil to fill 120 Olympic sized swimming pools, drilled 2,280 holes at a depth of 20 metres to stablise the ground, and delivered more than £135,000 in social value - ranging from toy and clothes donations made to community groups, education initiatives with local schools, local employment opportunites, and much more. And we've already welcomed 9 graduates and 8 apprentices to our team. Hear from the people powering our project - Project Manager, Gerry Vallianatos, Site Engineer Abby Cruickshank, and Senior Social Value Advisor, Irene Gibb - about all the work we’ve completed on site. Our Head of Indigenous Affairs, Mark Beetson, shares a powerful reflection on what this year’s National Reconciliation Week theme means to him. Our commitment to reconciliation will continue through collaborating with First Nations Peoples within our organisation and the community to ensure there are equitable opportunities in employment, training and procurement and the sharing of culture through education, urban design, placemaking and storytelling. We will always be guided by our values of care, integrity and courage to build stronger relationships, foster a respectful work culture, and create new opportunities. You can learn more about our commitment and Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan here: https://lnkd.in/gAD5Gsru #NRW2026 #Reconciliation #IndigenousAffairs
Every year, National Reconciliation Week invites all of us to reflect on our shared history, on where we are today, and about the role each of us must play in the journey towards reconciliation and shaping a more just and equitable future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. For me, this reflection is deeply personal.

Last week, colleagues across our business embraced Mental Health Awareness Week, highlighting how physical activity and community supports mental wellbeing. From coast to countryside, offices to project sites, our UK and Middle East teams embraced the opportunity to connect, get moving and support one another. We saw an incredible range of activities, including walks, runs, cycling challenges, team sports, wellbeing sessions, bake offs, and social events that brought people together - demonstrating the power of strong, supportive teams. Many groups also went a step further by supporting causes that matter to them and their communities, raising funds and awareness for charities including: Alzheimer's Society, Maggie's Centres, Vauxhall City Farm, Willen Hospice Milton Keynes, Earlsfield Foodbank, County In The Community, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, ellenor, Prostate Cancer UK Researchers , Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK and many more. From large-scale challenges like the 4 Peaks Challenge, where 25 teams came together to raise an incredible £19,000 for the Samaritans, and community fundraising initiatives, to simple moments like a shared coffee, walk or conversation - every activity contributed to building stronger connections. What stood out most was the collective spirit across our teams. A huge thank you to everyone who organised, participated and supported throughout the week. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #Community #Wellbeing #Teamwork #HeartsAndMinds

A moment in history for Fremantle. Earlier this year, the Swan River Crossings Project officially closed the Fremantle Traffic Bridge. To mark this significant milestone, the project hosted a three bus convoy carrying 120 people including Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti, Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk, and many of the project’s key stakeholders. Together, everyone took one final bus ride and walk across the old Fremantle Traffic Bridge. What made the day remarkable were the stories shared by community members who joined us: • Families whose parents and grandparents helped build the original bridge • Descendants of the workers who cast the iconic orbs that once marked the north and south entrances (these orbs will be used in the future urban and landscaping design) • People connected to Fremantle’s earliest pioneers, including relatives of the City of Fremantle’s first mayor and those who helped shape the Inner Harbour • Community members whose families arrived as migrants in the 1890s, making Fremantle their first home in Australia • And incredibly, two individuals who were born on the bridge, their births more than 60 years apart. Long time locals also shared vivid memories of childhood days spent fishing, swimming, and playing around the bridge and riverbanks. A great reminder of how deeply this place is woven into Fremantle’s identity. As we move toward the future with the new bridge, it was powerful to pause and honour the generations who built, lived, worked, and grew up around this landmark. The stories shared will continue to shape the legacy of what comes next. #PowerofExperience #Legacy

Prestigious awards for our Transport for Tomorrow and Rail Operations teams! Transport for Tomorrow (TfT) and Rail Operations have been awarded the Permanent Way Institution - New South Wales (PWI-NSW) Steve Maxwell Platelaying Award at this year’s PWI NSW awards. TfT is a partnership between Transport for NSW, KBR, Inc. and Laing O'Rourke, and received the award in the Major Works Category (>$5m) for the the Sydney Terminal Area Reconfiguration Phase 2 (STAR2) project. The award recognised the STAR2 project’s achievements in the design and construction of major track reconfiguration and upgrades including new turnouts and crossovers, 890m of track, extensive formation and resurfacing works, engineered approach slabs, and derailment protection. Jeff McAuliffe, TfT General Manager, said: “I’m very proud of our Transport for Tomorrow team delivering this complex project. Through clever design, planning, utilising modern methods of construction and extensive collaboration, we were able to successfully stage the track reconfiguration delivery across numerous trackwork possessions.“ Transport for NSW’s STAR project will enable more frequent train services and reduced wait times, as well as enabling new Mariyung Fleet trains to use Central Station Platforms 11 to 14. The Rail Operations team won the award in the Minor Works Category (<$5m) for the Werris Creek Small Bridge Replacement project, delivered on behalf of ARTC. Reflecting on the achievement, Gagan Assi, Project Leader, highlighted the importance of teamwork and resilience on site: “This award is a testament to what can be achieved when teams work collaboratively. The conditions at Werris Creek challenged everyone, but the focus on safety, planning and supporting one another made all the difference. It’s something the whole team should be incredibly proud of.” The Minor Works Category celebrates excellence in the delivery of rail construction and track renewal projects valued under $5 million and recognises teams that demonstrate strong planning, collaboration and a clear focus on safety. Congratulations to both teams on this recognition. #PowerofExperience
