Tim “MetaMan” Mapperson began his career elbow-deep in wet chemistry, spinning gold like an alchemical DJ, building metamaterials that bent light and made the invisible visible. Since then, he’s guided humans through existential phase transitions, mapped nanosurfaces and mindsets, and is now helping engineers stream insights in real time — no lab coat required. These days, Tim has traded the lab bench for the Kafka bench. Her passion for empowering communities aligns with our mission to build tools that help engineers thrive with real-time technologies. Sarah is also breaking new ground as our first fully remote engineer, dialling in from a vineyard-flanked farm in the Adelaide Hills - where, as we like to say, the only thing smoother than her code is the Shiraz. We loved the keynote from Chris Simon at Programmable 2025 intriguingly titled "AI is a hype-fuelled dumpster fire that will burn down the planet and get you thrown in gaol." He discussed ethics, bias and risks, and the misunderstanding of AI. He argued AI is a statistic, probabilistic "stochastic parrot" and acts as indifferently to fact and fiction #Programmable2025 #AIEthics #AIBias #AI
