check article "How thin are they really? - Four foldables compared"
An older unit, like V2 were only around 13.6mm if I recall correct while having an even higher tiered camera, as it had one of these exotic flagship fusion RGB+W sensors from Sony IMX8xx line where white/clear are used for luminance, that increases signal to noise ratio (SNR) and improves dynamic and low light performance , while V5 got a more traditional RGGB sensor from Sony high midrange line IMX906, with double green.
But its likely the periscope sensor that increases thickness a lot but it doesnt change the fact, that Honor V5 is a very nice foldable, and Im not sure how much Honor can elevate on V6.. sure a 200MP main sensor and a bigger Si/C battery etc, but that is still not earth shaking differences from V5...
The fact that they already bring the V6 after 7 months is a bit laughing with their customers who are getting an outdated V5 too quick. No Honor for me anymore
Honor Magic v5 is really the greatest foldable so far, but ppl love Samsung due to the OneUI including my self, but thickness is matter, camera wobbling almost gone with Honor due to the central camera position, stylus support is great, front camera is sucks and the rear big camera is great but colors tone are harsh not natural like Samsung camera or apple.
Battery Life is outstanding,.. Can set to high performance (gaming) mode, so as not to throttle, eg when rendering 4K videos with transitions and subtitling etc.. gets mildly warm.
Heating that users describe might be during first hours use when updates and optimisations are going on.. this is a very capable phone with top tier cooling. (Asus ROGs can add fans, otherwise, HMV5 is class leading)
Camera is exceptional.

I have had A LOT of flagship phones over the decades (starting with Nokia Communicator 9500 and 9300/ Psion 5mx devices),.. as a regular owner of Samsung flagships, they just keep going downhill, and charging more for them.
I usually see my Samsung flagship become deprecated after two years via 'firmware/software' updates (eg autofocus on camera/s pen button & wired DEX removal of features)..
Not a fan of what Samsung pull out of the Android stack in order to 'sell Samsung accesories'.
Moving away from a Samsung Ultra model, bought to replicate Note series (4edge/7/10+/20 etc) functionality, key features were removed YET AGAIN by updates, due to new model not having them .
So when a local shop "iPhone user" spoke positively about the Honor Magic V5, I was willing to listen.
By the time I had read about Honor paying patent rights to Nokia (antenna), and the C1 chip (AI controlled antenna useage and sitnal boosting, that changes from antennas that users hands are covering).. I was excited about this phone.
Samsung used to fire antenna away from users body, and had lowest SAR for years, but changed their build/design practices and now have high SAR rates..
Honor have low SAR rates AND outstanding reception quality.
My Samsung Ultra gets one bar wifi reception, if raised high in room closer to house.. HMV5 gets three bars in bed facing away from access point. (and runs cool without cooking my fingers)..
Samsung Ultra was updated to have poor low light performance; Honor has best cameras I have used from a small form factor.. (I have had a lot of Sony RX and full frame etc; Honor worked hard with Qualcomm to leverage the Sony sensor readout with the capabilities of the Snapdragon Elite; and it shows!
This morning I took a 'non AI' photo of my cat, in bed before sunrise.. at 25,600 iso, f1.2 and 1/11th second, shit is nicer than if I had toyed with my Fuji XH1 and expensive primes... Phone camera, in hand, naturally "got the shot".
Honor need to up the bitrate used in video capture- stationary shits look good but panning is atrocious.. too high a compression rate. I used 3rd party software to make footage at a bitrate equal to my Panasonic GH5 when doing 4K HDR, and footage looked MUCH better. (Magic OS 10 upgrade has camera improvements inbound!)
Phone is beautiful to hold, well balanced.. camera bump makes tactile and nice weighting.. Included fake leather case in box, really nice. (no extra cost!)
small and lightweight with top tier battery and screen tech (eg LTPO OLED extends runtimes).
Best tech hardware I have bought in decades.. feels premium like an HTC TouchPro2, and makes my Samsung Fold seem like the deprecated joke that it is.
Double tap back to launch an app/flashlight etc.. works with case on.
Can also use different finger login for varied file and desktop access.. all sorts if tricks that are easy to master.
I like the android config; lots of little extras that stand out (like which bt codec used for mic vs audio transmission). most of the Honor apps are much better than the Android/Google default.
Phone is seriously tough.. (not Nokia 5100 'tradesman' tough; you could jump on them), but good enough to throw on dashboard of ute tough.
Barometer and NFC in/out and infra Red (use as remote to control EVERYTHING) are bonuses.
Been a long time to find such a full featured phone.
I vastly prefer over Samsung and 'other brand' flagships I have bought recently.
Honors' seven years of support and upgrades is actually worthwhile. (ethical company and pro consumer)

I'm interested in this phone but it seems that the thermal throtteling is horrible but I guess this is the price to pay when people want paper thing phones.
The battery is crazy it stays 2 days with normal usage including scrolling videos calls and browsing. I can't believe it's even better than my Magic 6 Pro
