WhatsApp is apparently aware of the fact that a lot of its users are facing a problem with clutter in their main chat list, especially due to having a lot of separate threads with messages from large businesses like banks or airlines.
So, according to a new report, WhatsApp is now testing what it thinks is a solution to this problem. Messages from large businesses will automatically be moved into a new "Offers & Updates" folder after a set number of hours have passed since they were received.
WhatsApp is testing different durations for this feature, up to 24 hours. If you don't like the idea, you will be able to disable it in the app's settings. Interestingly, though, you won't be able to set a custom duration for the feature to do its thing - you'll have to either take whatever Meta comes up with or disable it altogether.
The main purpose for this is to get stuff like discount codes and delivery updates out of the main chat list, keeping that cleaner. At the moment, small businesses and personal accounts are exempt from this feature, but WhatsApp will explore moving business messages from small businesses into the same folder in the future.
Data collection for big businesses (I mean its facebook. It's what they do). At some point this will become corporate espionage with black mailing.
Who’s giving away their number to business like that? Holy uneducated mackerel Batman Its 2026, don’t people know better?
