I don't really understand why people are complaining about the camera specs or what it can be recording. The main purpose for this phone with ink display is for reading not for videography, watching video or gaming. Consider it's price, it's still kinda cheap to use for reading ebook or social media. You just a delulu if you asking for high definition recording on some e-ink device.

Bought this phone mainly out of curiosity and interest for the phone's screen and the supposed tech that simulates e-ink readers. What a disappointment. Initial set up was Android standard with all basic setting and info, which although entered, all where lost when I finished set up and logged in for the first time. After that, Google Play store kept crashing, cleared cache, restarted, cleared app data, restarted and it kept crashing. Phone's back is paper-thin and bends inwards when touched lightly... Charging is slower than my 2018 phone. Camera is taking 50mp photos only in letterbox size. Scrolling on web pages and various other content felt strange and my finger seemed tired after a few minutes. Nxtpaper tech was ridiculous and in no way can be compared to e-ink. At least I was able to return it and get a refund.

How is the speaker quality?
The speaker quality on the TCL 50 Pro was terrible and much worse than any Xiaomi phone that I've owned. It was not much better on the 14 inch TCL tablet.

Wi-Fi modems can't reach higher speeds and USB 2.0 ports are still common on phones costing 2 times more. Even all non-Pro iPhones still use 2.0 ports.
In those regards, you got what you paid for...
If there aren't any more relevant issues, then it is a pretty decent sub-200€ budget phone.

I bought this smartphone to my wife and I found that the price vs. performance rate was attractive, specially, for its screen technology (NXPaper) which is amazing and useful. However, this smartphone has troublesome drawbacks as the following:
1. The Wi-Fi performance has a real issue in 5 GHz and 1 Gbps of bandwidth. The speed does not surpass the 450 Mbps, meanwhile other smartphones (Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi) exceed this speed (reaching almost the network bandwidth).
2. The USB-C 2.0 is almost a joke. You cannot connect a external screen or high performance dongles. This is the same issue with the NXPapers tablets.

czesiotelefony, 02 May 2025Why budget phones have 1080p 30 FPS while HTC One M8 has 1080p 60 FPSI believe it depends on the processor, since many budget-midrange MediaTek processors capture video at either 1080p@30fps or 1440p@30fps. Most phone manufacturers limit the camera to 1080p instead.
