My Samsung Z Folld 6 is not receiving system updates stock in November 1st 2025 from box
Been here since 2002. This is where I browse for new Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones back in the day.
Sad news, my Z Fold6 got water damaged.
It may be due to the adhesive being weak over a year of usage. I may buy another one though.

Can any long time Fold user please give us an honest review of ... moreHi, I had a few book style folding phones and now this Z fold 6. I juggle between bar phones and fold phones for the past 5 years. Huawei P40, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Huawei Mate X, Google Pixel 6, Xiaomi 11T, Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, some tablets and some old devices for keeps like the OG Pixel 1 for unlimited Photos backup.
Folding devices these days are pretty reliable. The 3 folding devices I had and have now have pretty good reliability. I work from home, do some gardening, walking my dogs. I don't go to the beach, I don't travel a lot. And these devices held up very good.
The Mate X2 was a chongker but it has great night time and zoom photos, then the dust protector on the opposite ends of the crease, which is made of rubber just gave up, the phone can still be used though. I sold it after 2 years of using it.
The Mix Fold 3, I got the carbon fiber edition. It was very good as well, very handy, very slim, great cameras and good battery. But the problem was notifications, I tried all I can do per instructions and YT tutorials but it still has delays running a CN ROM. The Chinese AI features that I can forgive as I don't use them, but the notifications, was a let down. The Mate X2 I was able to make the notification work without any issues. So I sold it after 2 months and got the Z Fold 6.
This phone is superb. Good battery life, great screens, great cameras, useful AI tools. Some people say the battery is trash but it isn't. It's good. Not great but good. Just turn off wifi and Bluetooth scanning, turn off nearby device scanning, turn off voice match on Google assistant then you're fine. Also, I recommend to turn off auto update on its OS, wait for a few months and check reviews before updating, ask yourself if would you be needing the new features?
Based on my experience. Software reliability: then choose Samsung. Build quality? Depends, I recommend picking a silver color, reason is longevity and appearance, my black x2 had scratches after 2 years, and it showed the silver color of the metal, the Mix Fold 3 I had a few months did not have deep scratches but rather paint chips and peels and again, silver insides showing, which makes these devices older than they are supposed to be. The silver color I have for z fold 6 looks more pristine after 8 months of usage, and I don't wear cases for all my devices and I try my best not to drop them.
One of the reasons my fold 6 was dropped the list maybe because it's size when closed, it is just so compact and I able to grip it comfortably, the Mate X3 was heavy and slippery, the Mix Fold 3 was a bit wide for me hence the grip is not very secure when holding it. The glass back of z fold 6 is very slippery so I applied a leather sticker to it which improves the handling a lot.
Inner screen, definitely z fold 6, having minimal and sharp angles bezels looked so clean, I still have the original screen protector on and it has like 3 very faint scratches. Maybe I am very careful? But the mate x2 and mix fold 3 showed scratches even with nails. The pre installed screen protector on this z fold 6 is resistant to finger nail scratches I think. Also did not have issues in the inner screen for all the folding devices I used. Maybe because their screens are large enough for my daily use and only switching to the inner screen for movies, YouTube and productivity which I mostly use my computer 80 percent of the time for that.
Now fold 6 or s25 ultra, if you like a compact phone and a tablet at the same time then you know what to pick, if you need battery life and cameras then choose the other. If you want both, then maybe wait for z fold 8 or 9.
Ask me anything and I'll answer as much as I could.
Looks like expensive but very fast lowbat not worth it
