Redmi Note 15 Pro+ — IP Rating Does Not Live Up to the Claim
I bought this phone specifically for its advertised water resistance. Within one month, the fingerprint sensor failed. The cause? Water damage — from nothing more than everyday use. Not submersion. Not rain. Normal daily contact with water.
This is a phone marketed on durability and water resistance. It should handle the basics.
When I raised this with Xiaomi Malaysia Customer Support, they eventually admitted in writing: "We are unable to provide a 100% guarantee regarding IP protection."
The repair was completed under warranty — credit where it is due. But the fundamental issue remains: a phone advertised as water resistant should not suffer water damage from routine daily use within the first month.
The IP rating on this phone is not as tough as advertised. If you are buying this specifically for water resistance — manage your expectations. It is not titan tough. It is not even everyday-splash tough.

I feel like they should just discontinue this line of phones, especially since the Poco X series is still around. How different is this from the 13 Pro+ aside from the battery?

it's weird how note 13 pro+ is much better in almost every aspect. just compare the specs. read both the reveiws if you want to get more surprised.
it's less than half the price of this blasphemy rn. also, I just can't help to undestand what's with all the complaining for hyperOS. hyperOS 3 is one of the smoothest, most visually pleasing OS'. UX is also nearly perfect.
in god forsaken middle east, there is no such thing as service centers and warrantis, for any oem.. although some oem s have "service centers" that refuse to offer any real service. "making excuses center" is a better name for them
So, here we just ship one from the cheapest chinese retail centers. sometimes even half the price of the toned down global models. most of the time they have better build quality/featurs and most importantly, optimized and clean,zero ads hyperos with better performance, ui/ux and battery life.
I feel sorry for the people from europe. tho if they can afford to kiss the warranty goodbye, there are many, much better options from every chinese oem. guaranteed optimized clean os with equal or better quality in every aspect.

After I've read the full review, the main big upgrades from the predecessors just the battery capacity (Global still got the smaller battery capacity from the China version). The minor upgrade just the chipset. The others felt subjective like bigger screen, fibre glass back cover, charging speed, and thinner frames. That's it. The camera almost nothing improvement even got slightly worse pictures and videos, 2 (real) major Android updates only and downgraded type of LPDDR & UFS compared the Redmi Note 13 Pro + (my perspective point of view) but with higher price (O.o?).
It's time to move on from Redmi Note to Xiaomi or Samsung FE series.
