For picture quality I went back as far as the iPhone 13 Pro Max and many times i can see the images from the old 5 year old phone being slightly better than the latest and greatest iPhone 17 Pro Max (ROFL).
To be fair even samsung has dissapointed with their over saturated images since late 2020. Ther'es slight improvement every year but the last two years i question why even switch from the S22 Ultra to even the S25 Ultra. Trust me youll be happy even with just the Note 20 Pro?Ultra? i forgot the name lol
JUST THE OTHER day i was thinking I think Sony is playing with fire here, selling them crappy pic chips and they're going to lose a major source of their income FURTHER BURYING a once giant int he vid/camera industry. oh well onto the next better camera pics device!

Apple did a lot of things right this generation and a lot of things wrong. The new design is great, it is different from previous generations which is a big thing. The scratch gate and the color changing gate are two issues that make this phone less than perfect. I mean if you're paying $1200 for a phone then you deserve a phone that doesn't scratch that easily. OnePlus 15 manages to do that very nicely but iPhone 17 Pro does not manage to do that. Secondly, it is so bad for this phone to change colors under sunlight like which premium phone does that. Other than that, this generation of iPhones are actually great.

if better is always given higher number, then iphone 17pro max should exceed 5.0 rating

So, arena rated the iPhone 16 Pro Max with 4.6 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 4.4.
Still, the 17 Pro Max is a better phone all around. So, I don't get it.
Is because the new design and usage of aluminum is less premium? Otherwise I don't understand. The specs, the performance, everything is better on the 17 Pro Max compared with the 16 Pro Max.

Those "engineers" at Apple in Cupertino are a strange bunch, always second guessing themselves. First they promote the HEIC format as a great way to save file space, then they make 24mp the new default, to consume more file space. Well sure, HEIC was never a great idea in the first place, not when Apple makes their greatest profits from selling (overpriced) storage. It would be in Apple's best interest to backtrack and make JPG their new default photo mode, after all, it is the "most compatible". What were they thinking??
