Xiaomi is working on its next foldable smartphone, which we're tentatively calling the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5. It has now allegedly been certified for sale in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) with the model number 2608BPX34C.

The device is expected to have a wider form factor than its predecessors, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold8 and iPhone Ultra. Its folding screen is apparently going to be 7.6" diagonally. It is rumored to be powered by Xiaomi's own Xring O3 SoC, the successor to the original Xring O1 from last year.

The Mix Fold 5 should launch running Android 17 with HyperOS 4 on top. According to recent rumors, it will have a 200MP main camera, a 6,000 mAh battery, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The NBTC in Thailand has also certified the global Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, the former bearing the model number 26081RA18G, the latter 2609FRA74G. This certification doesn't reveal any specs, but from previous NCC and Eurofins certifications, we know that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a 9,210 mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The handset is expected to be offered in global markets in four RAM/storage combos: 8/256GB, 8/512GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB. On the other hand, the global Redmi Note 17 is rumored to be identical to its Chinese counterpart, save for boasting a slightly smaller 7,700 mAh battery compared to the Chinese version's 8,000 mAh cell, which will also reportedly be offered in India. Speaking of India, the Redmi Note 17 is apparently going to be launched there on August 6.

Is that an upgrade over the SD 7s Gen4 from the previous model though?
