When you dominate the market you set the terms.
Competition is what keeps them in check, not government. Hopefully chinese chips rise up and clean house at qualcomm. Just like what they're doing with sk hynix, micron, samsung today.
In the meantime, it's ok to pick mediatek or midrange snapdragon. Whatever gives you a good bang for your buck. If you keep buying qualcomm like nvidia fanboys you'll create a monster.

Look at Apple, its now purchasing chinese ram. Soon they will use chinese storage. Or release cheaper iphones with MediaTek chips to cut costs.
Only damage comes out of rising prices. Thats why every 4th phone out there in the 400-800€ uses Mtk chip.

I will not convalidate the prices the phones have right now, and there is no a technological upgrade big enough to justify to change my phone!
