It's just one of tones of themes. iPhone copied widgets, status and notification panels from Android. And those widgets still look very much like from HTC communicators with Windows Mobile.
Bezelness comes from Sharp Aquos Crystal. Notch comes from Sharp Aquos S2. Overall design comes from Sharp Corner R concept. See Apple tries to imitate Android a lot.

AI claims OnePlus 15 but I find it weird, screen to body is 90.8% on that, S25U is 92,5% and somehow nobody mentions it.
No idea which of the two measurements is more leading.

That 1mm of bezel on phones now should also not protect the screen the way you think it does. There is no space between the frame of the phone from the screen that the bezel is hiding under

It is a physics problem not a technology problem. Though I do agree they should release more phone with under display camera for those of us who couldn't care less about the selfie cam and let the selfie cam equipped phones be the niche.
