Apple pays more for better displays than Samsung mobile does. I almost forgot though with how long the base Iphones were stuck on 60hz for compared to Samsung.

If people kept the phones until they died or broke or couldn't keep up anymore I can get behind that. But the people who buy one every single year when they cannot in reality keep up with the pricing makes 0 sense to me and is something I'd never do.

london2tim, 28 Jul 2026sure - but S27 Ultra will have M18 - so i guess Apple is inferior Every new Galaxy S Ultra is basically Samsung's tech demo to show off their latest panels for Apple, which Apple would usually adopt on the iPhone later in the same year, or when Samsung can produce it in volume, or when Samsung can spec it to Apple's needs. So every new Galaxy S Ultra phone will obviously have newer screen than the iPhone released in the previous year.
For example, the S27 Ultra will have the privacy screen feature but without reducing color quality. You can bet Apple would adopt that in the next iPhone.

Apple is the last company that should worry about RAM and memory, reasons being:-
1. They can run their base model on quite low RAM and memory, keeping it cheaper like not many premium Androids can.
2. Their higher RAM and memory models anyways command a huge premium, sometimes even double for 1TB, this is enough to cover any hike.

Meanwhile, the article stated that it's actually for the latest panels from Samsung.
Apple contracts are cutthroat, but the volume will make up for it. If Samsung ends up giving Apple a better deal, this means Apple flirting with the Chinese like BoE is bearing fruit, to put pressure on Samsung and friends.

potato4k, 27 Jul 2026You didn't read the article at all, did you?Yes I did, but I believe that those suppliers discounting the panels will not be enough to offset other rising costs like memory. I also believe Apple will no longer use these Korean suppliers for the iPhone and switch to Chinese ones like BOE and TCL because some of their other devices already use these displays like the iPad which used to have Japanese displays made by Sharp.

But some people want to buy the newest model available and keep them as long as possible. For me the best option is to buy the best of best and keep it five years. Then repeat.
