Pumpino, 16 Jul 2026I've not had a single issue with my Edge 50 Neo.I did have issues, but not this severe. The touch sensitivity on the corners was extremely low to the point when some apps could not be used normally, but that issue was universal across all 50 neos due to a series of bad updates as well as Motorola being slow as hell.

Motorola dont update much but at least they always release final working update unlike Google, Apple or Samsung which releases every week new beta for their horrible UI.

In past had Motorola edge 40 pro for 2 years now friend of mine usingit another 2 years and no issues.
Rocking Edge 50 ultra my main phone for like a year now have zero problems with my phone.
Never had issues with motorola unlike few else weird people who tried to unlock bootloader to install custom rom.

Updates or no like it really matters. Half of the planet dont update regulary and another quarter hjave no idea whats updates are as long as their phone is working.
Lastly past few years nothing miraculous changed in android ecosystem and apart heavy AI bloatware nobody would care.
Lastly even old unsupported phones proven they still can run apps, games like nothing ever happened so said updates are not needed.
Not everybody regulary using his phone. Not everybody brownsing or gaming or use phone to pay his bills. Still plenty of people using common ancient ways to do so.
So yes for tech geeks and a 25% of major population updates matters but for the rest of 75% people nobody would care even a tiny bit.

Normal phones deserve at least 6 OS updates, hi-end ones at least 8, then opensourcing their entire SW stack and mainlining drivers.
Anything else is, and should be treated as criminal behaviour towards the planet.

They also need to merge their “Hello UI” & “ZUI” under one banner in order to streamline the software development even further.
If they stop intervening a lot in how Android’s AOSP operates, then things will be much simpler for them to update.
Think of adding new feature? Just request a license from Google that would allow you to use the Google Pixel UI.

Everyone knows their update policy is rubbish hence the low price tag. Neverthless not everyone wants to hold on to a phone to 7 years. I know I want. For me 2/3 years is enough.
You want more, take the Signature instead.

To be frank, in my perspective, Motorola's update policy streamlining is over the places even as far as almost a decade ago, during the Moto Z series single-digit Moto G and E series were still around. They did (try to) improved the update policy streamline to be more consistent, if I'm not mistaken, in 2019. But it went derail again, when Edge 50 series and some G series like G75 got 5 OS and/or security patches of update but the rest of them either got 3 OS or even less like 2 or 1 OS (or even no OS only security patches for 5 years like G17) and only few got 7 years of updates like Signature and RAZR Fold if I remember. Like their policy of streamlining are really confusing, because unlike other manufacturers that put set their updates that are defined well (e.g. Google 7 years update since Pixel 8, Samsung 7 years for flagship since S24 and 6 years for midrangers and low-end since A56/A07, fix term of 4 OS and 6 years security patches in Sony since Mark VII, or 5 years OS/security patches in Oppo, so on), Motorola's level of software policy as I said, over the places even in newer models. Feel free to disagreed but this is my observation I did.

If you are going to sell me a phone with low OS updates then sell it to me for lower price. G86 has 2 OS updates but its a 150$ device (200$ after tax and registration). That is fine. But a whopping 800$ (700€) this is a crime. If the Edge Max was something around 500€ then MAYBE i would consder. Xiaomi 15T pro is 550€ and i get 5 years OS updates. Currently i see 0 reason to purchase this phone.
