Seems like more market share for Motorola Razr, which was always a better choice, price and performance wise

Actually there are only few benefits in a phone that when open has a normal phone size, and when folded just save a bit of space in your pocket.
With that you need to loose, battery and cameras, and still pay high price.
I see a better choice the fold that gives you extra screen when unfold, can be the normal one or the new wide segment which is even more interesting, as is smaller then average phone when folded and bigger when unfolded.

Clamshell and book foldables were always the wrong way to fold. The early players bet exactly wrong. Passport and wide is the way to go. I.e like how pura and pura x is. Everything else looks like a toy compared to those two. But the real issue with fokdables is their lrices, their incapacity to lower costs close to bar phones.

Means the technology is not there yet, and we probably need to waypit for a few decades for the costs to go down to bar phone like costs and this compete.

They should keep the Z Flip series, the outdated S series is what needs to be discontinued.

Anonymous, 09 Jul 2026I actually see quite a few Z Flips in real life, so it would be pretty surprising if this was ... moreI saw more flips in the last 2 months, than folds in the last 6 years.

And both men and women get flips, would say 50/50 here.

Which makes sense, cheapest fold is fold 7 at 1320 euro, flip 7 is 699 euro.

People get a flip quicker because it it prices closer to a regular high end slab.

Of course fold/flip devices are still definitely more niche than slabs.

Vl, 09 Jul 2026I assume needing to open the phones every time in order to be able to use it properly quickly ... moreDepends on the user, but what you say is valid to some.

In my case I use my Flip 6 like any other slab I had before and I still have my OG screen protector on the main screen.

Battery life is also fine for me, easy full day and 6 to 7 hours of SoT on 5G.

But... not using social media apps saves a ton of battery, that is my only secret (I use mostly my browser for socials).

Opening and closing is annoying, that is a fact.

                        Also the price.
And the far less durable main screen ...
                        Oh and the battery.

So I would understand if the market for those would shrink

Bussilium.UL, 09 Jul 2026Why not the rest of their lineups aswell? It might be funny at first, but on a second thought Samsung phones get discounted the fastest right now, at least in the EU. I don't think they make such a bank from hardware alone, why not just stick to RAM and cameras for smartphones and profit more. Samsung's days are counted anyway. They don't innovate in ANYTHING. People just realize it a few years later.

DUMB, dumb move. Flip foldables are some of the last phones out there that are even remotely small. We've already killed small bar phones, let's not do the same for small folding phones.

It would be stupid of Samsung to just give up on it. It's that simple; just don't make a new one every year. Instead, release a new Flip every 2 years.
