YUKI93, 10 Jun 2026Backwards for the better. 18:9 and 16:9 phone screen still makes sense in 2026 and beyond. And this is why I use a Nokia 8 with zero regrets. I'm yet to see any phone that's neatly usable with one hand without having to trigger settings to make items on the screen smaller, just to use them on a display as tall as a grocery receipt.

So happy that shorter phones are making a comeback. 18:9 is the optimal ratio to use with one hand while still useable with a keyboard on screen.

potato4k, 10 Jun 2026Good, hopefully it catches on and other OEMs follow suit. Time to make smartphones fun again.Fun smartphones been here always. 6-6,9 inch is a fun size small tiny with worse than mediocre specs low batteries charging speeds average disgusting cameras no thanks.
Finaly someone making a bold device everybody wanted.
When you look back at many polls about small and big phones many people were for big. Every poll bigger wons over smaller ones.
People should train properly, eat properly to elarn to use 7+ inch phones.
If someone calls a 180-250 grams phone heavy he is nuts.
Same goes if he calls 6,5-6,9 inch phone a tablet.
We had 7 inch tablets 20 years ago but we are not 20 years ago.
We are here and now with modern era better era more future than ever before its time to move forward and leave past for good.

Also, you can increase font/display size and remove ads using DNS ad blocker.
Interesting, definitely want to try those small shorter and wider screens in passport foldables.
Would be also nice in candybar phone too, 7000mAh and 1/1.3" + periscope are good but mean either it's a big screen (far from the 5.4" ish wide foldables outer ones) or a very thick device.

I would say it makes it easier to read and even type with the keyboard on screen when the phone is 90mm wide compared to 70mm
One handed use be more harder but when you need to use one handed then it usually distract you on other things. Like people like to text and drive and there for prefer the one hand use with a smaller phone

I always carry my Pixel 9 Pro XL in my jeans pockets without any problems, and there's still room for a bigger smartphone. A small smartphone is almost useless: it's very uncomfortable for reading the news or watching videos. Touchscreen navigation is poor because you have to tap on links that are too small, making it impossible to target them precisely on a small screen. It becomes nearly impossible to remove an ad from multiple websites.
