Maybe the camera on paper is better; In reality the Samsung phone would still take better automatic pictures. Charging for Samsung has improved recently and is actually barely behind the Chinese competition, partially because of the smaller battery size. I don't know what this is supposed to compete with when it even makes Samsung look good

Downgraded zoom capabilities (or maybe not, who knows), still very underwhelming charge speed and a price that isn't okay even with the additional headphones, especially since many power users would rather go for the 512 GB option which is even more expensive.. Sorry Sony this ain't it. If this came at a reasonable price with faster charging at the very least, it would have been fine. But not at the current price. And once the price has dropped enough, the new gen of CPUs is already out there.

              Every time Sony....

You can't price these at £1400 and expect anyone to buy them? The competition is fierce and there's nothing this does better than the competition.
Software support is limited, slower to charge than rivals, camera in "auto" mode is pants.

Think this is the last one we'll see.

When some brand tries to nake innovative design, yall hate it, like LG wing, LG flex or just don't buy it. When it's simplistic and generic you say you hate it, yet you buy it. Also there is only so much you do with the phone design these days, as the front is only reserved for a screen, and the back has cameras and flat slab. Poco did smth with with subwoofer on the back, but that's pretty much it

The telephoto camera is actually a big improvement, so good job on that one, but the 1080p display and small battery with ultra slow charging are definitely unacceptable at the price they are asking for it.

Sony the mother company is protecting its camera company sales by hampering its mobile company cameras.

There is no other reason to explain why the company that makes class leading resolving lenses and best sensors is so many generations behind its Chinese and Korean and American competitors that use Sony's sensors.

I have both Vivo X300 Pro and Sony Xperia 1 VII in my current collection, and the Sony easily makes the most real photo yet. Everytime I use the Vivo, the HDR is so excessive that I have to use manual mode to get my preferred shoot. With the Sony, it's an easy point and shoot, just like the iPhone and the Pixel.

Perfect opportunity to buy Xperia 1 VII on discount. But to be fair, having no price increase (even if the price ws already damn high) while having more practical upgrades than S26 Ultra is pretty nice to see for such a company.

                                    Also, why no Qi2?
