Anonymous, 21 Apr 2026Because android apps' push notifications are managed by app servers, not apple servers. And how does it change the fact that it consumes more RAM??
Thermals going up by +20ยฐ for sure

Foxtrot2Novmbr, 20 Apr 2026You know that for each Android version. It consumes more ram? Because android apps' push notifications are managed by app servers, not apple servers.
Who cares? Until RAM chips are more affordable, people will want to go back to previous years' phones anyway, because the current phones are too expensive.
"The end consumer also wins. Once Samsung stops manufacturing LPDDR4 chips, it will start using the 50% faster LPDDR5 memory for its low-end and mid-range devices as well." well yeah... but won't the prices get higher too? if so kinda an L at the same time?
cyberdimitri, 19 Apr 2026Why on earth would you need 24GB of RAM?You know that for each Android version. It consumes more ram?
Anonymous, 19 Apr 2026And another knowledgeable individual. Again thinking these are the same Samsung companies. ... moreThen Tell me. Who produces the RAM for Mobile Chipsets??
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2026ufs 2.2 for budget ufs3.1+ midrange aboveufs 2.2 is ok for phones around 100$ but anything above it needs to have ufs 3.1 or above
zaryan, 19 Apr 2026Ufs 2.2 and emmc 5.1 storage needs to go as wellufs 2.2 for budget ufs3.1+ midrange above
Anonymous, 19 Apr 2026LPDDR5 was announced almost 8 years ago. I highly doubt that 8 year old technology is overly e... moreannouncement doesn't translate to immediate production. regular DDR5 hits the market during Alder Lake, which was roughly 5 years ago and actual availability of LPDDR5 is roughly 6 years ago.
DDR5 and LPDDR5/X haven't hit their limit yet. Back in 2021, anything beyond 4800MT/s is an overclocked spec for DDR5 aka XMP but within just 3 years, gear 4 is no longer needed, 5600MT/s is a JEDEC spec and is attainable at decent price (I helped friend shop for such SO-DIMM modules during that time amd scored myself 2x32GB 5600MT/s SODIMM). Then there's continuous bandwidth breakthrough today; beyond 13000MT/s on UDIMM is achieveable with gear 2 and still pushing further today, beyond 10000MT/s is official for LPDDR5X, CKD extending SO-DIMM life and bringing quad rank, SOCAMM making LPCAMM obsolete on servers (still ok for desktop/laptop but I too want SOCAMM on laptop for even more smaller footprint), MR-DIMMs bringing more bandwidth and more.
DDR4/LPDDR4/X hits their limit by the time DDR5/LPDDR5 draft spec was finalized. it took quite some time to see 3200MT/s become JEDEC spec
Anonymous, 19 Apr 2026Prices of RAM and Storage will also go down again.
In the moment we have a bottleneck because... moreThey're only dropping down now after Google's memory breakthrough but he prices are still way high before the Altman incident.
These companies won't stop and they'll get greedier since they are funded with taxpayers money and by the ijoots that pay subscription for tokens.
Anonymous, 19 Apr 2026Prices of RAM and Storage will also go down again.
In the moment we have a bottleneck because... moreIndeed! Now we will have more supply of LPDDR5, and AI demand is going down due to various factors (e.g., new models being more efficient on memory, datacenter building is now cut back). These are good news, things are (slowly) getting back to normal. I still remember the times when upgrading to a later RAM standard meant better price per capacity, not the other way around.
LPDDR5 is not the latest cutting edge technology, nor is the LP version that appealing for datacenter use. If the market was functioning normally LPDDR4 should already be more expensive than LPDDR5, not the other way around.
Its about time. Go.
zaryan, 19 Apr 2026Ufs 2.2 and emmc 5.1 storage needs to go as wellI'd rather get UFS 3.1 as the base standard than LPPDR5 to be honest.
Invetor, 19 Apr 2026Good luck using those HBM memories in your phone ๐Nobody is talking about HBM memory nor does this article.

Anonymous, 19 Apr 2026I thought we've already started moving to lpddr6...? Jedec has released the full spec of... moreYes, Samsung even made claims that it'll start production of LPDDR6 in H2 2025 to get ahead of competition. It probably got delayed? Thought I'd see it in some consumer product by now but it'll happen next year, most likely, since 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (max ultra extreme) is rumoured to have LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 Storage support.
I thought we've already started moving to lpddr6...?
Jedec has released the full spec of lpddr6 last year.
zaryan, 19 Apr 2026Ufs 2.2 and emmc 5.1 storage needs to go as wellUFS 2.2 is still decent for budget phone.
