jiyen235, 10 Apr 2026yea keep yapping pal you sure understand a lot! the simple idea of portability is something... moreHow so? I'm not saying buy and use whatever forever, I'm saying get a mere D3x00 for 50 € to play around with and get a feel for what a camera can do. Something for an amount of money you won't care if it rains, snows or you drop it in a lake and you can resell for that same money as opposed to anything new which would lose 500 € the moment you open the box.
Get an old compact if you want, but you'll then never see what you might be missing out on, which is also why I suggest as "pro" as possible.
Use for a few weeks, gain experience, then buy whatever you want based on your own needs and knowledge, not a YouTuber's who's sponsored by a camera manufacturer.

Most YouTubers talking about cameras are absolute amateurs who wouldn't recognize a good photo before taking it if it punched them in the face and only pixel-peep at photos of resolution charts for hours, would immediately delete a photo with 0,5 stops overexposed highlights instead of opening the RAW and fixing it in camera in 2 seconds 'cause they don't even use RAW and think bounce flash is a ball game. Most people looking to buy a first camera then do the same thinking tinyest of differences in picture quality are some relevant factor.

oodav33, 09 Apr 2026Thanks for the link from April 28, 2021, it's a bit outdated, though. And, by the way, So... moreStatcounter measure active device not how many devices company sold in a year, so more marketshare in 2021 means people who bought Sony in 2017, 2018, 2019 etc still had their devices, before Sony new strategy they had lot of device so it make sense for them to have more active device, having more devices doesn't make you profitable. After new strategy they make around 2M device every year, they are profitable but with few devices and revenue.

As if they'd benefit from it somehow while it's quite the opposite, the more options on any market, the further it is from a monopoly which is never a good thing for the buyer/consumer. 🤷‍♂️

The use of pixel binning is to increase the light absorption over a smaller surface area. When we use true 200MP or 50MP of a sensor instead of binning, the detail increases at the cost of darker images and loss of highlights in the shadow areas. That is the reason higher resolution sensors gained so much market. Sony using 1" sensor for primary means kicking the bucket when it comes to other focal lengths. Also they won't use the whole sensor so it'll be the same sensor size as what I asked for. SONY has two 50MP 1", two 50MP 1/1.12" and one 1/1.14" 48MP sensors. Since they will try to save every penny till the bitter end, they can go for the 50MP 1/1.12". Samsung made a 21x zoom camera phone with a long range of 483mm a decade back. It bombed because it failed as a phone.

Also the main camera was acceptable at best no matter how much you play about with it. All the sony phones ive had take worse photos than my fold 7.

Ive owned a Xperia 1iv, 1, xz2 premium, xz, z5, z3, z1. The last time Sony had the best cameras was on the Z5. They have been mid for 10 years just accept it. I've given up after 10 years of sony phones. Ill have Sony everything else and a galaxy from now on. At least they get updates properly.

                            1. other people do
                            2. they're too limiting as far as capabilities and ergonomics, speed of actually setting up a photograph you want to make etc. go for anyone wanting to learn a thing or two about photography. Hence, also overpriced.

The oldest FF DSLR you can find, beat up from being used by a wedding photographer for a decade, with a wide-aperture 50 which costs under 50 €, will let you learn more in a week than a compact in 5 years or a phone in a lifetime.
Add an ancient e.g. 28-200 or 300, whatever you can find cheap, and an equally cheap speedlight, and you'll be able to try out all the possible genres for a total of 1/5 or even 1/10th of the price of a flagship phone.
Don't like it, sell it for the same price to the next person.
Like it, start thinking about upgrading to whatever will fit your needs and interests you will at that point be beginning to understand. Could be a newer FF, an APS-C, a compact, or a cameraphone. Lenses and other stuff, same story.

Till you go and try playing around with a real powerful and capable camera yourself, you will be wasting time and money on empty discussions in internet and overpriced equipment, be it new phones or new cameras.

And as I once said already, a 9 year old used my D850 with a normal pro zoom for hours doing hundreds of photos, many of which I'd print and hang on my walls if it were my kid. No adult can then complain about size and weight of anything, especially a small APS-C I usually suggest to people whining about how they'd have to carry 10 kg of heavy lenses and whatever.

"I'm so tech savvy and I tell you, iPhone is the best smartphone ever (while never even touching another in a store 😄), yeah, beats Android, Symbian, WinMo, everything by miles!!1!11" but their mom calls the neighbour who's working in IT to come fix it 'cause it's no longer ringing only to discover the tech savvy kid accidentally put it on mute. 🤣🤣

Same with you guys, never held a real tiny sensor compact camera in your hands, done the same shot with two different apertures to see what subject separation is, couldn't explain the exposure triangle if you were given a book and a whole day, but "Yeah, the vivo Ultra is so pro, bro, it has an AI fakery mode making better portraits and landscapes than a medium format Hasselblad and it's a pro DSLR with a 15000 € prime supertele in your pocket if you buy the 600 € teleconverter toypack to go along with the 2000 € toycamera. Lossless zoom to 1600 mm, bro." 🤣🤣

The throwing around of insults like kindergartners to hide their ignorance also stayed the same.

Its actually a big wonder they havent introduced foldable, as it would be a perfect device for gaming, and really rare if they bought a jack along.
If they would actually bring a good camera hardware added AI at lvl to samsung or huawei, I would gladly buy that.
