potato4k, 03 Apr 2026You wouldn't need to ask that if you know what ODM is.You didn't tell me what you think, that's what I asked you. Do you think Samsung has no involvement and whatever Wingtech offers them, that's what they brand?
Samsung doesn't set any parameters or requirements, they're just branding, right?
Because I use ODM Chinese manufacturers and I tell them what I want them to produce for me and exactly with what parameters and functions. But apparently Samsung doesn't do that. They just print their name... OK then.

DarlingYext, 02 Apr 2026How about giving up on useless AI features so RAM prices can be normal again? Just a tip.Yeah like we don’t need those AI features, we just need a phone that works properly for every job. Simple, and it can even reduce costs as you said.

It's just a short term solution, since some in China were stashing RAMs and now they want to sell them fast.
Long term is production capacity whats important, be it ram or hdd, AI is still drolling all over it and its not going to change anytime soon.

In UK you can buy a s26 ultra 1 TB with a 2 year contract with unlimited data, mins and texts.

Total cost £914, if you calculate in how much a monthly contract is you getting the phone alone for £680-£700.

If you think how much global version of chinese flagships cost £1300 and when you factor in your current contract thats will most likely be £1500-£1600 total cost

            Basically saving £500-£600

Heres the deal if anyones interested

Samsung has been offering its users almost the same phone for 6 years in a row. Apparently they themselves can't make something that matches the hardware in 2026. So they should pay people who can help them make a product that matches their devices. Or at least lower the prices of their phones so that they match the midrange hardware they have, and not ask me for a top flagship price for 2020 technology.

It's such a delicate balance.Probably more like Samsung semi and display division prefer selling to higher paying clients like AI companies and Apple. They are separate business divisions afterall, so profit is still priority.
