If you follow tech and understand the technical details, there haven't been meaningful difference between Korean and Chinese components for at least 2 years. Major western reviewers don't have the technical skill to review components but Chinese reviewers have

Minu, 04 Apr 2026Agreed, but if that's the case, why would they push LCDs for larger displays and penny pi... moreMost OLEDs kind of suck at text clarity for the given resolution due to the subpixel layout, and larger displays are more often used for reading than smaller ones so it often makes sense to sacrifice the contrast for the better text experience. They're also still not great in bright lighting because they're 100% emissive, it's not uncommon for an 800 nit LCD to be more usable in sunlight than a 2000 nit OLED.
Typically OLEDs are less reliable too, ironically Samsung's in particular.

I... moreAgreed, but if that's the case, why would they push LCDs for larger displays and penny pinch on OLEDs for smartphones and watches? Besides, it's ironic that Samsung pushes QLEDs, as they were marketing their glass-substrate OLEDs as "flagship grade".
Having both options all electronics is better than monopolising on one type of display technology for each item.

What a load of rubbish!
Samsung actually manufactures its own RAM modules, but prefers to sell them at a premium price to competitors or for use in AI junk.
Instead, they prefer to buy cheap goods from a few Chinese low-cost manufacturers.
Exactly the same applies to the OLED screens and the UFS memory chips.
They prefer to use their production facilities for components for the new, completely useless and unnecessary AI data centres.

When I used the phone with the Samsung display for a long time, it felt like I had needles stuck in my eyes. With the BoE display, there is no eye fatigue even after hours of using the phone.

Th... moreSamsung relies excessively on Wingtech (an Original Design Manufacturer, a company that designs and manufactures products for another company) across its mobile devices, something common with other brands.
The problem here is that Samsung demands a large amount of profit from the final product, despite having no involvement with their phones directly. This is also the current trend with a plethora of cheaper phones from Chinese brands that offer poor value for money, which steers away potential buyers from them. Hence the reason why I suggest everyone vote with their wallet.

A quantum dot LCD (QLED) mitigates typical LCD shortcomings, such as washed-out colours, greyish blacks, and poor colour reproduction, at the cost of temporary image retention. There should be a reason why Samsung insists on QLEDs instead of their in-house OLEDs, shouldn't there?
