i get that, really. everyone wants more for a less.
but not many people will care for our homeland, our planet.
corporations work for profit, but you have to agree that not having a charger in a box is giving some results.
maybe they are not that important to you, but they are actually important for all of us on this planet.
so.. let's do a little math.
every Chinese phone is coming with their own proprietary charger with a cable which is a brand-specific charging cable designed to work only with their own particular devices.
everyone else is using the universal standard or USB-PD which you can use on any brand, just not as fast as proprietary can.
so, how many Chinese phones are sold each year?
with every model they have they include a charger with cable in a box, so...
that's millions upon millions of charging bricks that people buy with each of their next phone.
i'm not saying you should go green by any means, but some people will think about that.
that's why brands such as Fairphone exist.
we can see the climate change every year. i am not trying to defend corporations for their decisions, but if you do the math the difference is pretty clear.

When you said 90W charging speeds that's actually 45W for each cell in the battery, but anyways.... these things are only in Chinese brands.
the same can be said about bigger battery capacity, only Chinese phones have them.
as for that they use a Silicon and Carbon material which are still not been proven safety enough for all "western" brands...
only Chinese brands use what you want from a phone.
you can't expect that from a "western phone company" any time soon.
Apple, Samsung, Nothing, Google, Fairphone and Sony will not have what you want in at least next 2 years, maybe even until year 2030.
if that's really the most important thing for you, than just don't buy the mentioned western brands brands and stick to Chinese phone makers.

Cute design! It reminds me a bit of the old-school Sony-Ericsson phones.
BUT! If you look at the Android updates - you'll switch to Samsung. 4 vs 7 major android updates is the clear winner (at least for me). Though I'd wish Samsung would bring back the 3.5mm jack and the SD card slot on the S line - this is where Sony still wins.
You gotta choose between software and hardware.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2026One thing I've noticed from having a phone with 2 days of battery life is I often can... moreUnreliable after 2 years is definitely impressive in a bad way. 😐 My Xperia is still fine and never shut down unexpectedly or anything with almost 5 years of age; although, according to the AccuBattery app, it's capacity has dropped to 75 %. I do use the 80 % charging limit on it and every other device that supports such an option and rather do an additional top-up during the day, should overall be healthier for the battery.
Isn't it easier to just have a full battery every morning so you don't ever need to think about it with such a large battery during the day? Admittedly, I think I was also a bit "lazy" 😄 back when I had a 5000 mAh phone which easily lasted two days in 2014.

I never have such issues with the Xperia, as soon as one of my registered fingers goes over the power button it's unlocked. 🤷♂️
Maybe it's the fact that I have relatively dry skin so my fingers are usually either too dry or have too much hand cream for the S23. But still, the Xperia doesn't mind any of it one bit and according to many, the side-mounted scanner should have issues with damp etc. hands.
So, yeah, I'd be happy if Sony keeps it in the power button.

Being a Sony device how long can it last without some catastrophic failure though? They look rugged but they can barely last 12 months without stuff breaking, I stopped buying them a long time ago along with everyone else it seems.

Finally, A New Look! Hopefully, the hardware components are better this time. Sony Xperia's Camera Os has always been impressive, only the hardware needed improvement.
I hope they go with this design, with Sony logo at the back center. I think this will make it more recognizable, especially if the camera module is lodged as one on the side, much like what Oneplus did.
With a potentially iconic camera module and hardware improvements, Xperia will surely attract more consumers. (assuming they don't bump up the price more)

Don't mind the camera bump, but atleast a triple 1/1.56in camera setup is much more competitive than prior.

And what’s worse, many people actually commit to two years (or more) of monthly payments just to own an expensive phone that becomes outdated in less than a year.
People really need to become more conscious consumers instead of broke snobs.

Not sure if I should be happy the headphone port is retained or sad that a brand I used to admire and always wanted to own is going generic. It's not ugly but it doesn't look recognisable anymore. Same seemingly 19.5:9 or 21:9 aspect ratio display and same generic punchole display that forgoes the notification LED I presume. And yes, I know the feature is a novelty for many but to me it's nostalgic and good use of otherwise unused space from a time when Always on display was not a thing and frankly still isn't quite as effective or widely adapted. Still would like one but the excitement is fading.

A larger battery I certainly wouldn't mind, ... moreOne thing I've noticed from having a phone with 2 days of battery life is I often can't be bothered to put it on charge. With my Asus I glued a magnetic ring to the back of the case so I could use a Qi2 charger that charged it slowly (because most phones don't support Qi2's protocols) but with my Redmagic I still have a Qi2 capable case but I often leave it next to it most nights and only charge it overnight if it's actually low. Part of the reason I'm comfortable doing that is I know I can get over 30% back into it in the space of 10 minutes, I don't work a job where I have access to USB ports or AC sockets for any amount of time.
Charging rate limits would be great to have in the OS, but this didn't seem to stop my ZF10's battery becoming seriously unreliable in just over 2 years (a new record!) so I'm not sure how much it would actually help the longevity of the battery.

Going to be honest, I haven't considered the ergonomics of it to be a problem, then again knowing exactly where to place my finger is something I got used to so quickly to the point I'm often unlocking my Redmagic by accident just taking it out of my pocket. My ZF10 would do that sometimes but very often fail to unlock, and I think I redid the scan like 50 times using the instructions provided. I also have a lot of difficulty finding it by feel or accessing it the 3 times I ever put my phone on a table, though of course
It's weird that a lot of people in your office is having the same issues too, my sister's Xiaomi 15 also unlocks pretty much instantly every single time. It's possible that you might be pressing on the screen too hard when trying to set it up or unlock it, from what I can gather with experience counterintuitively to most ultrasonic readers really don't like that (the only times I can get it to fail deliberately is by absolutely mashing my thumb on it as hard as one might mash the throttle in a racing game, it really seems to prefer a lighter touch), it's also possible Samsung's one just sucks. But yeah either way, those who want a phone with a side mounted capacitive fingerprint reader definitely should have the option of one.

btw how's the battery life on your dail... moreThis is the first time you've responded to any of my comments for better or worse, so I strongly recommend you read my detailed battery report in my earlier comments to better understand how the Nokia 8 battery performs for me, even with normal use. I neither use it too low to the point that I only use it as an alarm clock, nor do I overuse it with heavy gaming or running numerous apps at once like a NEET.
Given the sheer amount of Xperias bombarded into our country's used phone market in the form of e-waste with their evident battery degradation and green lines, I don't think I'll need to consider wasting my hard-earned cash to buy a newer phone for the sake of getting a marginally "better experience" than what I get on my phone, while converting my existing, yet perfectly functioning phone into e-waste. After all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

i think you would be happy with xperia phone, they have a good battery life too.
