ua82, 21 Mar 2026You can't have it both ways with current technology, either big bump for great camera or ... moreThe thing is, the bump in camera hump is much bigger than the bump in camera quality, compared to something like Samsung or Apple.
Vivo and Oppo still mostly rely on AI to fill in details.
Xiaomi, despite having the largest sensor, is also only marginally better than Samsung or Apple, and is still worse than both for video.
So neither Vivo and Oppo or Xiaomi offer much in return for considerable downgrades when going with them.
You can go with Samsung and have exceptional software quality and support, spen, ar coating. Privacy display, dex, much better design, better videos...and only slightly worse photos. Much worse battery but still 2 day battery life so who cares.
You can go with Apple and get best video, most consistent camera experience, small and ergonomic option if you go with the pro, exceptional software support and app quality, amazing trade value, and even better battery life.
Or you can go with Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo and get slightly better pictures and better battery life...in return for horrible ios copycat skin, years less of inconsistent support, huge and heavy ergonomic nightmare of a camera bump, worse video and CN rom or much higher price for less battery
It's, unfortunately, still a big NO compares to Apple and Samsung.
I am really mad why chinese phone really like to make a fake camera so that it counts or symetrical? That left top camera is annoying to look at. If you dont have the space beside it, why dont you make it vertical like samsung, or diagonal like iphone.

On Weibo site DCS is leaking features of the upcoming X500U, and on X, blogger xJonnhyManuelLx, who previously leaked all the features of the 200U when it was about to be released, is now anticipating what the 500U will be like.
Vivo will be the first brand to use that Samsung HPA 1/1.2" LOFIC sensor in 2027.
He hasn't mentioned OPPO at all.

GreenLine, 21 Mar 2026I don't mind them taking longer, as long as the phones release without any major issues, ... moreI understand but they been working on those devices for months now, it's clear than they're more than ready to put on sale. The time to make bug corrections and improvements isn't infinite you know...if they delay it too much, there's other big phones coming out and they miss the timeline.
ua82, 21 Mar 2026You can't have it both ways with current technology, either big bump for great camera or ... moreI'm not complaining
As an X200U owner, I think it's better to wait for the X500U, since Vivo won't be manufacturing the 400 series.
They'll launch X500 Pro series in October or November, and from the leaks that are starting to surface, it seems the X500U will have a quad-camera system, with two of the cameras being periscopes -> Samsung HPA 1/1.2" LOFIC
This X300U is simply to produce something a litghtly better than the X200U and also launch it globally.
The real improvements will come with the X500 Ultra.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a bit better because of the sparkling green color. Other than that, the phones look basically the same.
GAMIR3DH, 20 Mar 2026Then make the phone thicker, or move the sensors to the corner? Look at the Pixels or iPhonesPixels an iPhones use much smaller sensors. How to compare them?
The large singular camera lens cover has glare issues. Did Vivo fixed the glare issue with the new models?
fotomon, 20 Mar 2026What do you mean? It's better than most phones in that regard.Could just be difference in culture. 24~28 mm had been normalised for phone camera.
Meanwhile 35/50 mm are what camera people imagine for normal lens. 28 is already in the wide lens range.
Personally, I don't feel like losing anything if maker do away with the ultra wide module and lower the price accordingly. :D
If would help anyone else,
I as a Vivo X200 Ultra owner since May 2025,
can tell you about the below consideration factors to buy X300 Ultra or not :
1) Vivo X300 Ultra can do at least 50MP or even full 200MP in extra Zeiss lenses telephoto mode (focal length range : 400mm to 3200mm). Or else dual 200MP lenses would mean too little difference here
2) Telelenses kit set does not force must buy 1TB (Though too unlikely)
3) Black X300 Ultra kit gives its own unique black Zeiss case and lenses (Like how silver already has white and green has green)
GAMIR3DH, 20 Mar 2026Then make the phone thicker, or move the sensors to the corner? Look at the Pixels or iPhonesUntil they release their own take of the circular camera bump
If global version comes with even less battery, this will be dead-on-arrival.
But that camera bump tho... ๐ณ๐ฅต
Why 6.82 screen size? The other ultras already 6.9 ๐ค cant we see some serious devices before we die...
