At least it does with last year's Xperia 1 VI, which is still beating current flagships and midrange devices as well.

Rather a bezel than a cutout
Does anyone buy Sony anymore?
only 256gb for europe? damn.

Edward Coventry, 13 May 2025That other smartphone is 5.8mm thick, what's Sony's excuse?Being thin isn't a feature, large enough battery, headphone jack and Micro SD card slot however are all useful features.

Tranquillow, 13 May 2025Mark my words: 6 Gen 2so out of date chipset hahaha... seems sony not care about midrange model phone user.

Software support appears to have improved over last time at least, but sub-400 DPI is ridiculous at this price point. There's a lot of phones with better screens and similarly great battery life this time around. This has all the Sony features that people buy Sony for, but it's hard to look past a 1080p screen on a phone that is more expensive than most other flagships.

DarlingYext, 13 May 2025Is that certain brand bringing anything new to the table? Definitely not.To be fair a smartphone is a smartphone at the end of the day and no one manufacturer can bring anything new to the table as phone technology has reached it's plateau
I must be the only person that doesn't care about bezels. I just want my IP68, side fingeprint scanner, and microsd card slot.
As with many other things, if you buy high-end, you can't really go wrong. It's a nice forum here to chat, but ultimately I'm mainly buying this phone because it's the only Japanese brand in mobile. Ultimately, I like not having a phone like everyone else. I had the 1 VI. This purple will be magnificent. On the other hand, if Sony stopped, I could keep the latest Sony Xperia for 5 or 8 years! Now see the release of the WF-1000XM6 in-ear in competition with the Technics EAH-AZ100
apart from the price it seems ideal. if i win the lottery i can start useing my senheisers again which will be awesome.

1500€ hahah. They will sell 5 pieces as previous gen.
Sony first need to compete with Apple and Samsung then they can think about oppo, vivo, xiaomi. And no attaching Alpha camera beside won't help.
Wow...
This sounds like damn near a perfect phone...
It's between this and the OnePlus 13 for value vs specs...
wait so......that's it? Wow, this year's release was a little lackluster. There are a few upgrades, like a few, like the ultrawide upgrade and longer software support (not that I really care because I don't whine about not getting the latest and greatest Android version like as if it's the end of the world), and no, I'm not even gonna mention about the "Powered by Walkman" shenanigans, it's still the same "DAC" that everyone else is using, with a little more bling
it's an okay phone, though there's really really nothing that stands out here since whatever's unique on the previous 1s ie 4K display, 21:9 aspect ratio, Dynamic Vibration System (not unique, but it's still a cool little feature imo) are long gone. Better to look elsewhere for those getting their money's worth, no point arguing over a brand/phond that isn't worth your time
