Edward Coventry, 13 May 2025You're saying Samsung did 45W 6 years ago and Sony are still doing 30W?Neither of them are good, but neither of them have upgraded their charging speeds in the past couple of years so it's not really a plus for either of them. Samsung was better at charging speeds to begin with so them not upgrading just means they are still ahead (of Sony at least) when it comes to this. If one is after fast charging neither of them are the best option out there. Plus what I was comparing this to is the S25 Edge with 25W charging.

Had few Sony phones before from the dumbphone to Android phone. I don't mind about the other specifications. Only the body ratio that extremely tall 🙄

Can’t believe they are still using such a low res screen on such an expensive flagship (Full HD+). Most flagships are 3K minimum now and the issue of battery life, cpu use etc aren’t really important anymore because everything has got so much more efficient since Sony last did the 4K screens.

Now, truth to be said, this new Xperia didn't fare nearly as well as the Xperia 1 VI, still it's about the same as the S25 Ultra, being better in some and worse in other areas, at least according to GSMArena.

I love that Sony is the only maker keeping the microSD and 3.5mm jack , while others fight over teeny tiny things.
This definitely has the potential to be my next phone , given that it now gets 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches

Phones with longer software support stay in people's hands much more longer, whether it was the original buyer or not make absolutely no difference. The original buyer likely sold it for good sum also mainly because it's still well-supported.
One-dimensional thinkers everywhere, yet they'd also be the ones to lament "e-waste" on many articles.

Xperia 1 VII actually ties with the s25 ultra on battery capacity even though s25 ultra costs less. And Sony is the only one to have not upgraded its battery capacity in 4 years. Staggering. Let's not even get into Sony's charging speed...
The amazing thing is you constantly criticise Samsung, yet as soon as we are talking about Sony you start using a draw with Samsung as a defense, as if that makes Sony good. If Samsung is bad Sony is beyond awful
