It's just to boost sales... since the Snapdragon 888, phones have enough power to handle 95% of daily tasks... Search YouTube for phones with processors from 5 years ago that outperform devices with the 8 Elite 1 and you'll be amazed.

User935, 11 May 2025Why wouldn't they? It's "our" own fault... 10-15 years ago all flagships h... moreExactly. People who have used flagship phones before 2019 have been itching for a proper flagship that ticks all the boxes a flagship phone should have.
Right now, we are stuck with glass slabs that have high chance of breaking in a drop (unlike aluminum bodies with self-healing technologies in scratches before), QHD screens, notification LEDs in front, good UI without AI cr*p, and almost everything works offline.
Sadly phones (and most people) have been too reliant on online stuff that most features cant even function without wifi or mobile connection.

It's "our" own fault... 10-15 years ago all flagships had 1440p, microSD, 3,5 mm jack., notification LEDs, displays that didn't have holes punched through them, some even proper keyboards.. The features that really matter in one way or the other.
Then they started saving costs, fanboys defended it with nonsensical arguments, paid reviews were raving about other nonsense, the average consumer was and is happy to buy less and less for more and more money.
And now there is no decent phone to buy, not even for 3x the money a flagship cost back then.
Not talking only about Sony here, they made the last phones that were acceptable and "good", compared to other crap on the market.

It will be released in Europe for sure but in which country ?
Some Sony site like France or Germany are talking about the press conference on May 13th. (also the one on the 15th for the WH headphones, even if I want the WF-1000XM6 this summer instead).
We will soon know in which country it will be released and when.

But after that it is not a problem if you live in a neighboring country there will be easy imports and easier than from Japan or Hong Kong also for the networks !
