Anonymous, 24 Apr 2025looking at 50mp telephoto the others camera doesn't need those huge rings around them.They are making attachments that screw to the rings plus it keeps aesthetics to the first phone

        The price will increase significantly, certainly around 300โ‚ฌ, it's a bit too expensive

                  vik457, 19 Apr 20251/1,55" sensor is gn9 here, only 3a pro has gnjum but they said the phone 2 pro is 1/1.57 inch so it is gnj (sorry for the typo i made before)

                  anyways, edit it is imx 355 not 350 so yeah i made that mistake too, either way the only thing that's a concern is the availability of nfc because the phone 1 didn't have it

                  i don't mind cashing out 250 bucks for this because the charging brick is available out of the box so yeah

                    Would be nice to know if this phone has NFC. I wanted the phone 1 but NFC was a deal breaker.

                      I might actually consider this over the Pixel 9a:
                      1. price difference is huge! (~ $ 250);
                      2. defective units with Pixel 9a (check Techmo on YT).

                          DarlingYext, 20 Apr 2025Yeah, but those at least have AF for better ultrawide shots, and good macro pictures.Macro on an ultra-wide is macro in name only. A telephoto lens is more appropriate, the magnification is greater and, at least outdoors, there is less risk of having a shadow on the subject.

                              The v1 teasers had me hoping for a removable battery and headphone jack, only to welch on both, so all these v2 teasers are rather pointless to me. Doubly so when I barely care about cameras.

                              That said, my current/old phone camera can't focus up-close at all, so I've realized a macro camera would actually be useful for lab stuff (and random bugs). I would get way more use out of a macro than a telephoto.

                              Ironically, I just got a ROG 8 (still unopened), and it seems Asus gave the base version telephoto for some regions (including mine), then went back to macro for all regions for the base ROG 9. Th-Thanks, haha. Maybe 3x will have more uses than the 2x on my old phone.

                                yungfishstick, 19 Apr 2025The telephoto is arguably the most useless out of all these cameras. Yes, the UW is a pitifull... morePay attention to your phrasing. You say "out of all these cameras", which would include a macro, but that's obviously the most useless camera not a telephoto.

                                You may not know this, but there is in fact a noticeable difference between using a telephoto lens vs simply cropping in. When you crop in, you're still getting a wide-angle distortion applied to subjects, whereas with a telephoto you have the correct distortion (it's more of a compression in this case) that matches the focal length.

                                Dedicated telephoto lenses, especially with these periscope designs, also give better bokeh and depth of field. So it's not exactly that simple, but perhaps the average person don't care that much.

                                    ThunderCrackR, 19 Apr 2025Not the first telephoto in the segment. Anyone remembering the Galaxy A72 from years ago?Galaxy A72 was in mid-range segment (like Galaxy A56 now), while CMF Phone 2 Pro would be probably in lower mid-range/budget segment (like Galaxy A26).
