  • The Absa Commercial Payments Summit 2026, in partnership with Visa, brought fintechs, merchants, developers and regulators into one room with one agenda, digitising payments on Africa's terms. This year, the spotlight fell on the SMMEs and women-led businesses whose futures are being shaped by payment digitisation, and on the mobile-first, digital-first agenda driving that change across the continent. We get it: When the right people align around the right agenda, doors open and economies move. Thank you to all involved in shaping the next wave of payment modernisation. #YourStoryMatters #BusinessBanking #WeGetIt #AbsaPaymentsSummit

As part of a revitalized strategic ambition to grow its physical footprint and bring essential banking services closer to communities, Absa has launched a brand-new branch in Lenasia, southwest of the Johannesburg CBD on Monday, 18 May 2026 at Lenz Quarter, a new lifestyle shopping centre. The launch of the branch is the third in the Gauteng South region since the start of 2026, and augments Absa’s current point of presence at the Trade Route Mall in Lenasia. Charlotte Modise, Provincial Executive for Gauteng South, Integrated Channels at Absa’s Personal and Private Banking business said, “Growth in customer demand for Absa’s banking services in the area is a factor underpinning the decision to expand while the bank has also recognised opportunities to further service residents and business owners in amongst others, the township economy.” Modise said the new branch would offer a hybrid banking service – a full suite of traditional banking services as well as facilities to provide assisted digital banking support. “Relationship is at the core of our brand positioning ‘Your Story Matters’ and we are excited to be deepening our ties with the community of Lenasia. Our Purpose of Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together, one story at a time begins by taking banking to every corner of our nation and our continent.” #YourStoryMatters
