7 reasons you're bad at giving feedback...
1. You're giving people them a "shit sandwich" of criticism wedged between two fake compliments. No one actually likes this.
2. You're watering down your message by using words like "quite", "kind of", or "might" in your feedback.
3. You're not being specific enough. People need specific guidance, not a general direction.
4. You wait for the "right" time. Small, unresolved problems can stack up, leading to much bigger issues down the line.
5. You tell a story instead of sticking to the facts. Don't make up reasons for problems before talking to people about it.
6. You don’t dedicate time for it. Most PostHog offsites include a feedback dinner specifically for sharing feedback in teams.
7. You only give constructive feedback. Remember to celebrate people's wins, rather than just pointing what they could do better.
