Okay, here are my thoughts on The Odyssey from someone who doesn't know shit about the Greek mythology except the names of some gods:

    1. Plot: It is an adaptation of one of the first Greek epics: Odyssey. So, the plot is not something we can't really critic Nolan for, but I can say some thoughts on the plot itself, right?

So, one of the kings who won the Trojan war, Odysseus, who also made the winning strategy, tried to come back home along with his men. So, his kingdom, temporarily led by Penelope is under the risk of going to be one of the suitors' because they were trying to win over her.

All this was happening when Odysseus was trying to get back home and were struggling for multiple reasons (I would consider the reasons as spoilers) I think the plot is great. It seems simple at first, but the layers in it is great.

    2. Music A good director knows when to use simple music and when to use a more complex one. I think Nolan and Ludwig Göransson nailed it on that regard. 3. Visuals Beautiful. All the visual stuff, like the ocean, the locations being captured, the colours. They were beautiful.

    4. CGI Very limited, and it is obvious when it was used: Cyclops. Well, it was done good. I don't have any complaints. Otherwise, all the practical stuff were done so well. Also, not sure if they used a ton of CGI on the pig scenes or not.

    5. Cast It is a major strength and a major weakness for the movie. Strength: Proven actors. We know how well they can act. They do not miss. Weakness: They are too well known. I'm seeing Tom or Spidey, not Telemachus. I see Anne, not Penelope.

Exception for the weakness: Robert Pattinson as Antinous. He was so perfect that I did not even recognise him.

    6. What do I feel about the movie? I did not know much about Greek Mythology, so for what it was, the first half was a little confusing, but the second half tied all of them together. The second half, especially the final act, was 9.99/10.

Overall Rating: 8/10 Great story. But if you know the mythology much better than I do, you would appreciate the movie even more than I did. Definitely would be great to watch multiple times.

Again, I'm just a silly goober on the internet who is just trying stuff, you be your own judge. That's it. End of the thread.
