Change the name, sure. But changing the identifier is dumb. There's precedent not to do it:
• MCO — Orlando → McCoy Air Force Base
• ORD — Chicago O’Hare → Orchard Field
• MSY — New Orleans → Moisant Stock Yards
• BNA — Nashville → Berry Field Nashville
